Enjoyed your video very much! I am battling with watercolour on and off, for years. Everything you said is true! For me personally the biggest thing to overcome in order to even start to learn, is to get over the cost of paper, especially. Paints, too - I was terrified to use them, because they look so small! At least, paints will last you for some time, so it's easier to bear, if you ended up with something you don't like in the end. With paper though, you only have one chance, and if it cost you a pretty penny, it's a hard pill to swallow, if in the end the culmination of your mighty efforts ends up in the bin! And again, if it was an investment on your part, there's this irrational fear of not being able to get more of it, when the one you purchased is finished. It's only recently that I found out that the paper might go bad, if not used for a long time, which I was happy to learn, because now I have an incentive to use it, while it is usable. 😂 Happy painting!

So glad u enjoyed this video as I did enjoy making it too! Iike you it took me 3 years to actually use cotton paper. It was so hard and when I did I realised how I was fighting the paper all this while... I also get how the cost of the paper creates this huge pressure to perform especially when a blank piece of paper - anything could happen!! It's hard to predict. I also recently started this new reframe telling myself that supplies unused is wasted supplies so its best to use them instead of wait for the right time (and yes paper do expire.. their sizing expires!) Thanks for sharing ur insights it was so lovely to read

From my own 5 yr experience I know you are correct on all you said...Everything resonated with me.. Guilt over wasting paper does me no good so I am getting over it. I cannot paint on wood pulp paper and now there are so many good deals in buying all cotton... I love it.

I agree - 100% cotton paper, professional watercolors, and brushes do produce better work! I would love for you to show us round brush users how you use the flat brush in your flowers. Thank you!

The flat brush is magic! I have a few floral tutorials where I have used the flat brush so u can get an idea! I find with watercolor it is one of those mediums where quality of art does depend a little on materials...

Wow! What a difference between 2017 and 2023! It took me almost 2 years of experimenting with paper, paint, and brushes to find what I really liked. I’m still exploring different cotton papers and have been so surprised to see how differently the brands feel. Looking forward to the next video!

Indeed!! And also I m glad I kept going. I had many points of discouragement and surges of imposter syndrome. I do agree that cotton paper has a difference too! After "playing around" my heart is still with arches or bao hong. Can't wait for u to check out the next episode! Thanks for sticking around!!

Bless you. This was most informative a d put perspective in my thinking! I am trying hard to paint loose florals, but get bogged down with what size brush etc. looking forward to your next episode.❤️🦋

So happy you found this helpful!!! The next episode will come out next week! Focused on techniques! And for me for a long time I used to paint with a big round sized brush thinking it was versatile because it could create thin strokes too not realising the water content in it was creating unwanted blooms and hard lines for me

I like all the points you've made . I was thinking if we all used the same pen and paper and wrote the same words everyone's would look different because our handwriting is different , same goes for painting too , we all have a different style so it stands to reason that our painting would all look a little different too
