Great video, keep it up. I have dual Mti max screens and love them, I am considering adding a 3rd (non touchscreen) monitor to my setup, does the raven integrate well with other monitors in the setup? I only ask as my mac mini only supports 2 display ports so it would mean getting a mac studio. Not being lazy btw, my studio is all packed up due to a house move so I can't test anything, hope you can help, thanks.

Thanks! The raven and my Mac Studio display seem to work well together, but I only have one raven so I’m not sure how it would work with 2 ravens personally!

Hey Iain, I’ve been really enjoying using mine! Very cool piece of gear - I find it more useful than my previous controller and doubling as a second screen is a bonus too as I’ve never had room to really set up a second monitor.

I use studio one professional and the V2 controller but was going to go for a studiolive desk to integrate, however about 2 weeks ago the Raven peaked my interest and is compatible. It's great you reviewed it as I genuinely appreciate and trust your opinion on gear and plug ins etc. I think your review has confirmed I'll go for it in the near future. Thanks again.

Mti max vs mti2 simply based on screen resolution? Is the mti max an absolute must? I’m seeing that you can upgrade a mti2 with raven 4.0.
@askdad34504 ай бұрын
I have 2 of these set up with Mixer on one and transport/tracks on the other, the new Raven 4 is really good, way improved flow. I have been using a hybrid style with a kensignton mouse and using macros from apple, but the raven 4 system is now more intuitive and hands on. Batch command s( Macros)are time savers and have a depth to them that is huge. Loving Raven 4 I have had my ravens for 4 or so years.

Based on YOUR set now, do you think starting out with classic mti2 at this time is ok? Mti max is pricey. I’m ready to get a unit to start with. What’s the quality like on your classics? Blurry at all???
@askdad34504 ай бұрын
I dont find it bad resolution wise, but i am sure if i had 2k or the proposed 4k version it would be clearer, i have no issues at all With plugins it is prob the mixer that looks a bit soft but i don't mind it, certainly the screen response is good and accurate Having had 4.0 for a month or more now, i am coming to grips with batch commands and getting gestures sorted I am committed to using mine as much as possible for tasks and i have made my own batch commands to do things, perhaps others might use apple key commands but once a script is done and committed to a user button its only once touch away

Hey, I have the same set up using protools I noticed in your video when you went to choir u had a master choir fader which you solo’d same with drums, when I try this and hit solo on the bus I hear nothing, the bus tracks are solo safe ? Is this why I don’t hear it or does stuff have to be pre fader ? Thanks for any help Alex Great video

I noticed in your "Mix Bass Like a Pro" video from two days ago that you have the Raven laying almost flat on your desk (which is what I'm looking to do if I get one, because I also have a 40" TV as my main monitor). Regarding laying it (almost) flat - Is that a capability of the attached stand, or did you build something custom to accommodate that?

I just have some foam pads under it at the back to help prop it - stand is only good for the upright position.

is it possible to use two different fingers on a plugin? For example input and output gain of a compressor to compensate the increasing gain on the output?
@spinlightstudios4 ай бұрын
I just tested it out and no you can’t - I think the plugins would have to allow multi touch which I guess while you use one parameter you can’t adjust another. The raven console is multi touch - so faders, pan knobs, solos, mutes etc

So, this touch screen solution is marketed towards avoiding a keyboard/mouse and yet you still use a keyboard and mouse. Does this mean that, let's say, 80% of the work is done by touch and 20% by the peripherals?
@spinlightstudios4 күн бұрын
The idea behind the raven console is that you can get hands on with mixing faders and tweaking plugins. But you definitely still need to use a mouse, something’s are just quicker. But the idea is mostly about having a digital mixing desk where you adjust multiple parameters at once. Batch commands is also really cool for removing a few clicks in searching for plugins or a mundane task that you can allocate to one button.

You would need to check the raven software compatibility in the Steven Slate audio website as I don’t think it’s compatible with all daws yet - but seems they are working to have it ready for more daws soon. I’m pretty sure it’s Mac compatible with Logic, Pro Tools and Cubase and Nuendo - maybe more now.. again definitely check the site!

You can install the raven software which also installs the the multitouch aspect of the screen - I can use the screen as multi touch then without launching the raven mixer/tool bars. But I think you still need to run the installer to get the multitouch gestures etc

I've used one for 8years now. Its a glorified touchscreen, nothing more. Outta the box, doesn't work with your DAW. Its $100/DAW you want to use the software on. Even software updates cost $100. If I bought a control surface today, I'd go w/ SSL, Icon, or Softube.

Hey mate, little bit of an over exaggeration there - feel free to scroll back over the last two months and see all the free unsponsored videos too - mixing rock vocals - aligning out of time audio to a click - one mic song wa251 - mixing drums with stock plugins - vocal tuning in Melodyne - 10 essential plugins - all unsponsored. look I get some people hate sponsored content and it doesn’t matter how many times I say I only take on things I’m interested in and companies that I like - some people still going to hate it cause all they want is tutorials - unfortunately without having mass memberships on YT or patreon to back a channel - the only way to stay viable is to do a mix of sponsored content + if you support a channel you should be glad to see that too because it means they are going to be around longer! I also enjoy making reviews and showing how new products work - how many times have you come to KZbin to watch a review or tutorial on how something works that you’re interested in. My suggestion would be to ignore the videos that don’t interest you and wait for the ones that do, there will always be free mixing and mastering content on my channel.

@@spinlightstudios I just want to say I was really impressed with your channel when maybe 10-20% of it was sponsored videos and the rest was truly helpful tutorials. It made me more than willing to subscribe and maybe pay for a course from you or hire you if I had something I needed mix work for (which I don't at the moment). Not sure I'd have the same impression if I saw that the vast majority of your videos were promoting something most producers don't need. I know firsthand that most gear is a money sink
