Hi Bill , I also have a 2006 Thruxton here in New Zealand and I absolutely love it . I'm 66 and when I hop on it I smile every time because it takes me instantly back to my young days tearing around the streets on my Bonne with my mates . An hour or 2 is fine . I have an 850 Guzzi for serious long rides . Cheers

I have a 2012 Thruxton EFI with clubman bars on it. I rode 300+ miles in one day on it. I've also ridden plenty of curvy bits on it. To say it's similar to a Harley, I think, does this bike a disservice. This bike would smoke a Harley on any mountain road. It handles the curves very well, you can lean the bike with confidence and even give it a little more. This bike is nowhere near a Harley in terms of handling and enjoyment. In regards to long distance it wasn't my wrists that took a beating, it was only my throttle shoulder. Everything else was good for the entire ride. This bike has soul. Is it sportbike handling and power? Nope, nor would I want it to be. But I have had little trouble keeping up with likes of KTM's and Ducati's in the twisties on this bike. It fun, it's light, it's got torque, it's got enough power. I personally gush over this bike everyday. Other than a BMW, I can't think of another bike I would rather have.

I‘m 59 and have a 2013 green. It remembers me to the great british motorcycles when I was a young boy. I own a 2013 Thruxton, I'm 6'1" and when I first sat on it I was blown away. It's not as solidly made as my BMW, but it's incomparably beautiful. The sound is incomparable, when I ride it here in the Black Forest it's days of thunder. It's my beautiful British girl.

Just got a 13 and your review is spot on in regards to won’t get into trouble. Bike was bucket list for me as well. I have different handle bars and find the bike very comfortable. Can’t bring it anywhere without folks asking about it👍

Riding since 19years old dirt 70s hot bikes golding adventure bikes five Harleys. It's fun light easy to ride and wrench on. Life is good.

Nice bike. When I was younger I had a couple of Norton Commando 750's . . . a Fastback and a Roadster. I've been toying with getting another bike, and to me, the pre-water cooled Thruxton would be the closest modern day alternative to those.

Nice bike! I have a ‘17 R and although it’s not the fastest bike I’ve ridden, it’s definitely something you need to respect. You can certainly get into trouble real quick. LOL. I’d love a Thruxton 900 for just playing around town and the 900’s sound wonderful too.

I have the bike and you are spot on across the board. The gear box is the absolute best of any bike I’ve ever ridden. Butter. (edited to correct typos)

I agree 100% on the maintenance & cost of entry. My issues in comfort can all be addressed but at a cost. Because of that I would spend my money in a Marauder or Volucia basically the same engine (but chain drive) and better ergo's out of the box

Hi Bill, I really like the look and stance of Thruxton 900 and there is one on sale on my local Triumph dealer and it's a 2012 Thruxton 900 with only 7200 miles and very good condition. I am new to motorcycle world but I really love a cafe racer bike also Triumph and Royal Enfield GT650 are my only options. Do you think it's a good buy for a newbie. Thank you and nice good looking bike.

Honestly if you have any seat time I think it is a good 1st bike. I would suggest you get your feet wet riding a dirtbike or spend some time on a mid size cruiser (low seat hight) that you dont care if you drop but of you have that she is a great 1st bike

@@71455olds thank you Bill. I went out and sit on a Triumph Street twin and it feels amazing than the Thruxton 900 for me. It's more manageable and lighter and it's a low seat height so I am very comfortable and easy to put my feet flat on the ground. Thank you again for your suggestion.

Hey Ryan, my two cents is to get something else if you want to learn faster. Dont get me wrong, it’s very doable to learn how to ride on a thruxton, but a smaller more manageable bike will get you further in skill and overall comfortability with riding. Keep the thruxton and gt650 in your back pocket though, they are two excellent bikes

🤣🤣 Give over with your 45mins with the clip ons! I'm older than you and took the original bars off my 2013 and replaced them with clip ons.
