I have this tub. Mine was purchased in mid 2019. I had nothing but trouble with the salt system. Pretty much from the beginning, it was very difficult to keep the water clear and bright. The dealer that I bought it from admitted after 2 years of service calls that the salt system on this particular model was trouble. They removed the salt system and installed an ozone generator and a silver stick. Now, the tub is super easy to maintain with minimal chemicals and fuss and my water is always clean and bright. My take: it’s a great tub but don’t get the salt system. I paid $10,000 for mine 4 years ago.

So, I just learned something else that probably helped make for a bad experience with my previous sat system. 1 new thing and 2 other things that did help me have some moderate success. The new thing I learned I probably what kept me from enjoying success with the salt system. First off, things that do help salt or any chlorine system, but especially salt. Biofilm consumes chlorine and in a salt based system that’s usually the cause of not being able to achieve good sanitization with level 3 or why people need to boost or run it at 7+ all the time which does shorten the life of the salt cell on the newer tubs. Ahh-some is the best purge product out there now…full stop. Purge with a tablespoon of ahh-some, then repeat (without emptying the tub) and super chlorinate the tub to 10+ PPM. Ahh-some strips the mucosal covering from biofilm which protects it normally from even extreme chorine levels, the chlorine goes in after and kills the bacteria colony after ahh-some does it’s thing. Larger colonies might need to be hit a few times. In all cases, a solid purge like this makes your tub super easy to keep chlorinated without overdoing it. New tubs from the factory are wet tested and then stacked and shipped and eventually show up at your house. The water that inevitably remains creates the perfect spot for biofilm to form. Purge new tubs and old tubs always. Most purges IMHO aren’t great, ahh-some is universally agreed to be the best out there. OK #2: granulated chlorine contains CY (Cyanuric Acid) which is a stabilizer. A teaspoon of chlorine granules adds 4.7ppm of CY in addition to chlorine. 70ppm of CY can begin to lock your chlorine making it near impossible to adjust or raise. Once it locks you need to restart the tub from scratch o empty it enough to reduce CY to 50ppm. So use liquid bleach instead - just straight bleach, not a “low splash” or other fancy bleach. Just straight up bleach. It won’t add CY. But you do want CY at about 50ppm as that level actually helps chlorine and lets it work more effectively. As soon as your CY hits 50ppm switch to bleach. It’s beautiful how well it works. #3 The new thing I somehow missed all those years with a salt tub was this: Phosphates 100% work against salt generators. They tend to coat electrodes and even if you clean it, if you don’t address the phosphates it just happens again. Phosphates are absolutely anathema to a smooth running salt system. Phosphates build up fast in tubs for 2 reasons, 1) metal sequestering agents are full of phosphates. So right off it’s already screwing with the salt setup. 2) lotions, deodorants, detergents (although not as much now a days). So rinsing off before going in a tub really helps. Not washing the swim trunks is recommended since they are getting sanitized regularly. You can fix this with phosphate remover. Also, boost on salt systems maybe does wear things out a bit faster. Instead use a teaspoon of liquid bleach after heavy bather load to help the salt system keep up. Have a party? Or your kids friends all pile in? Bleach. Before this I would have hit it with chlorine granules and raised my CY, working against myself without knowing it. Never checking phosphates and never getting the, under control also hugely worked against me. Add chlorine consumption via untreated biofilms and I don’t know how a new owner of a tub even has a shot making the salt system work. I had to dig to figure this out, and while the info is out there it’s not always easy to find. The dealer should know this. Finally, to top this off. And this one killed me in my soul. MPS (Non-chlorinated Shock) also works against salt systems. So does TH above 50ppm in Hot Spring tubs. It seems like a lot, but it will transform a salt system into a total sanitizing cruise control machine. But it takes doing things a bit different and looking for specific issues (like phosphates)

The logo indicators is the only ones you need to worry about. Red is bad like the heater went out. Yellow you need to check the levels and ok it. Green you should be good to go. The side lights you can change on the hot tub.

Hey homeboy just wanted to let you know you're putting your mineral stick down the wrong stand pipe, it's supposed to be the gray one. It does matter because it could potentially fall through one day whereas the gray it will not 🤙🏼

Interestingly I’ve heard from my dealer that you shouldn’t use non chlorine shock with the salt system. Maybe look into that since the claim was non-chlorine types works against you in a salt system. This was mind blowing to me because I had a different tub with a salt system and favoured non-chlorine shock and I never found the system reliable. Also 3ppm of chlorine is what you should see maintained for your salt tub over 24hrs. You always want to see chlorine register on salt systems because you know what else causes low chlorine readings? Chlorine consumption due to bacteria in the pipes..which can (and will) start growing as soon as you zero chlorine. Once or twice is no big deal but it quickly gets out of hand in hot tubs with insufficient chlorine. No free lunches with hot tubs and sanitizers. Zero chlorine reading is not a good sign…even if your water looks clear.
