I love the ugly stik rods , with a 10 year warranty who will match that , but I do use penn reels because of the stainless bearings that are sealed

It actually felt really smooth for me reeling it in even if it I 4 bearings it felt as smooth as butter for me I’ve only gotten two fish with it so far but I just got it today

I got 3 GX2 rods two in medium heavy and one medium. I go after tiger musky fishing 🎣🤔 the reel I switch it out for ugly tuff l put a 40 size reel and a ABU Garcia MAX Z for the other ones. The GX2 rod is great for power. Other rods just brake in carbon me fiberglass #1 for power. Nice video

I've been fishing everywhere for 40 years. I have been an ugly stik fan forever because of where and how I fish. I fish out in the middle of nowhere through trees, brush and rocks so my rods take a lot of abuse. When I noticed the immediate wear on the non ceramic guides, I removed them all and replaced them with ceramic guides. I'm pissed about this because even monofilament line wears these new guide down into a serated edge that reduces line cast and can sever lines. It's also half the rod so, yes I like the durability of the rod but the guides suck.

i have the gx2 and man have i ever abused that thing, used it for anything between perch to 20+lb pike it just wont break, the reel is meh so i put a daiwa i had lying around on it instead

Are the GX2 rods better than the Big Water rods? Better as in unbreakable, sturdy eyes, and backbone? How far up from the butt of the rod to the reel seat? Are there any videos out there comparing the bend of two equl rated rods with the same weight attached to them?

The cheeper combo don't have good reels or rods one is not impressive to me. I just got the ABU Garcia STX rod and reel nice to use so far for Bass fishing.

I had the abu Garcia black max rod and reel I really liked it but the reel broke in like 2 weeks out of nowhere I took it back to Walmart this morning and picked up this ugly stick combo it’s not bad at all I have 30$ set ups I catch fish on as well but so far I like this new set up you don’t have to spend a fortune on your set up to catch fish

my problem with ugly stiks are the guides being made of stainless steel makes even monofilament start cutting them almost immediately which is quite disappointing on the ($150Cad) carbon series

I've had 2 gx2s and a carbon get grooves cut in the end eyelet and the "stainless steel" beneath the coating looks more like dark copper. I won't buy a rod with all steel guides again.

would the gx2 7”0 work with a penn persuit 3000 for shore fishing? if not what should i change

That would definitely work! How big of fish are you catching? If it’s mostly panfish I would opt for a 2000 sized reel or something a little smaller than a 3000. But it would work if you already have the reel

I would put 15-20 lb power pro it’s braided line and will be good for everything

Are you more focused on the reel or the GX2 rod because you mentioned the reel before actually starting to talk about the GX2 rod. You should add that in your video content profile of the video when you post the video
