Cosmetology is my passion and I went through 1 1/2 years thinking teaching elementary school was. After substituting for a while I realized it was never my passion at all, I just picked it because it's the standard 4 year degree that I thought would make people I cared about proud vs. a trade school which people naturally look at as a lower end job. Now I'm on my way to start cosmetology school soon :)

everyone should learn as much as they can for life! I dont understand people with no drive to learn. you can learn almost anything online for free and cosmetology school isn't too expensive or that time consuming compared to other schooling. I think it would be more of a waste of time to go to law school. you can learn at the library, you can learn online, you can apply to work at a firm and ask questions while getting paid. law school is EXPENSIVE and LONG. if anyone is wanting to go to school for anything, they should learn online for free first! see if you like it, see if its too hard for you, and the only thing that will happen is you've learned something new, you can be ahead of the classes you might eventually take or they find out they dont like it and dont waste their time and money on something they dont love. ya never know what information youre gonna need and when. learning is important for everyone

She is not wrong about the girls and boys being at each other's throats. So much D R A M A !! I am the kind of person thats sensitive to those around me, empath, and no matter what I did, this was always an issue for me. I quit COS twice because of the teachers and student drama. You definitely want to get along with your classmatesand teachers because you'll see them for 8 plus hours a day for over a year like she says in this video, but it can quickly turn into a dreadful situation when you find yourself in the middle or on yhe bad side of someone. There are so many cliques that tend to form. O don't want to dicourage anyone but you have to have thick skin and a resilience to yourself to get past the stressful situations you'll find yourself in. The last time I tried COS, my best friend went with me and situations got so bad and stress that we don't even talk anymore. So no joke, you have to be mentally prepared for all of this. Its a fun and rewarding career, there are so many possibilities so don't be discouraged. I plan on going back to Paul Mitchell COS school in a few months on a part time, night class schedule. But I'm definitely going to watch my own back because no.one else will. It's a learning environment but remember it's also very competitive. I also hate to say it but watch your supplies closely. You pay for a kit but you're constantly buying and adding more to it. Supplies are very expensive and people would get caught stealing a lot. One more thing, per state bored requirements, at least in NC, I assume it's everywhere, you have to wear all black. Some schools give you scrubs to wear, I know at at Paul Mitchell school you wear black clothes. Any mishaps in dress code. You have to go home. You have to look like a COs student, hair makeup, has to look good or you go home and like stated in this video, hours are your holy grail to follow. You start missing minutes and your ass will be hounded by teachers till you make up for lost time. Good luck. 😄

I used to battle back and forth with myself on whether I could make just as much money as other careers and talking to seasoned cosmetologist helped. They all helped me to see that you can control your own career. You can become a salon owner, instructor, school owner, traveling stylist and more. There are cosmetologists out there that make millions every year. I’ve been braiding since I was 11 and when I took it serious, I made $1200 in 5 days just by braiding hair and my prices weren’t even that much. This field is where it’s at

I'm supposed to be starting cosmetology school on 21 of this month. Growing up I've always been interested in hair. When I was younger I would always style my dolls hair then, I eventually I started styling my own hair, then my big sister, my grandmother, my mother, etc. So, I know with the hands on I'm sure I'll be fast at learning that but my concerns is really about the chemistry that I'll learn. I know in public school you'll learn science but the thing is I've been homeschooled for most of my life (btw, it's not that we didn't learn science in homeschool it's just even with being homeschooled the science was still hard to understand) Only because me and my big sister learn differently than others and it took up alot longer to get things than others depending on what it is. Is the chemistry in cosmetology school hard? I guess it's different for everyone on rather it's hard or not. My program is 12 months so I know that 1 year would go by quickly. Another thing to that I didn't mention is that I know that taking notes of what the teacher says is important but when I think about notes I think about literally writing everything single word being said and I'm not even a fast writer 😆

My daughter was so excited to go to cosmetology school and learn everything she could. She studies and does everything asked of her especially knowing she is paying for this schooling/education. Now that she’s in school her current instructor is not teaching them as she should. She’s very defensive, and hostile at times. She is hardly the role model her students can look up to . How do you report a bad instructor??? Help!!!
@TheDrivenBlackGirl3 жыл бұрын
Aww no I’m so sad to hear she’s having to deal with that. It’s way too expensive to not get what you need from it. Maybe she can try talking to an administrator higher than the teacher, honestly. That’s unacceptable

I have 2 weeks with this week that I started cosmetology and I have only seen the teacher 2 times, the classes are from Monday to Saturday, she leaves us homework to do, how am I supposed to do the work if I don't know anything, I have to ask the other students how to do it, that doesn't seem right to me, because we're supposed to be paying to learn, plus the owner doesn't have a secretary, he makes the students answer the phone, this school doesn't seem so professional to me, I'd like to change schools but how do I find another school that doesn't do the same as this school? My point of view is that not only the hours count, but learning every day counts too.
@veritoflores16463 жыл бұрын
In addition, they attend to clients, since the teacher is not at school, we are all students, but I think there should be a teacher at least supervising the work with the clients. These are things that as a student do not seem right to me.

Not sure of the schools in your area but most schools don’t just focus on sew ins. You will learn all aspects of the field. You may learn more about sew ins out of school.
@lovebrittt3 жыл бұрын
Find a popular hairstylist that does sew ins in your area or on Instagram: many of them offer webinar courses or even one on one lessons. It can cost you anywhere from $100-$2000 but it would definitely be worth it. You will have to do that in addition to going to school and getting your license because you will be very limited in what you’re allowed to do legally without it.

im starting in a few weeks so maybe i can help you with these! im going to be paying mine through loans! You need to fill out a fafsa and see how much money you can get for sure, and then the rest i got from loans from a bank! And i applied for school online, or maybe depending on the school you can always walk in and ask to talk to an educator about it ! They called me and i got a tour 😸😸 hopefully i was helpful💗

@TheDrivenBlackGirl4 жыл бұрын
At my school we learned everything. It depends on the school. If I was you I would consider esthetician school. There you go in depth about skincare

Not only would you be great doing makeup but you would also know how to treat people’s skin which they both hand in hand. Great skin is key for flawless makeup

How many classes and years is it for cosmetology school?
@TheDrivenBlackGirl4 жыл бұрын
Hey love! It all depends on what type of school you attend and if you do part time or full time. I went to a private beauty school, part time and it was just under 22 months. Full time was around 11 months.
