I'm using a gtx 1080 since april of 2017. Upgrading would be nice but not that wanted since I play at 1080p 240hz. A couple months ago I went from an i5 9400f (that i had since december 2019) to an i9 9900k and saw a noticeable improvement in fluidity playing cod games at low settings.

I have an older Digital Storm system from about 6 years ago. It came with a 4 core overclocked intel cpu, 16gb of memory and dual gtx770ti running in SLI. I have since upgraded it to dual gtx980ti, an 8 core processor with a new motherboard, and 32gb of ddr4 memory(business database and compiler apps)with a 1tb m.2 Ssd for the os.The system has 21tb of hard drive storage and drives a 3400x1440(100hz) 34in curved monitor along with 2 additional 1920x1280 24” monitors. Most games and all of the business apps still mostly run ok but with some of the newer games the 6gb of video ram is not enough to run at the highest settings but on the 34in monitor they still look great on med. settings. Know a newer/faster single card would be better than the dual gtx980s but can’t seem to find any in stock and do not want to go the eBay route.

After many years I’m definitely closer than ever to buying the components to build my own PC for work instead of gaming. Thinking of the Cooler Master NR200P Mini ITX case. Definitely intrigued by Intel’s new 12th series chips and Nvidia’s rumoured 2060 super cards or Intel’s new graphics cards.

A bit late to the party, but my eyesight never was the best anyway and is decreasing even more now, since I am a bit older. And I had increasing problems even when just using Windows, since even with the icon size etc. scaled up, I had difficulties to discern what's on the monitor. On this regard, thanks to all the devs and software engineers who do not understand that with increasing monitor resolutions icons, text etc. look a lot smaller than on old CFTs _and_ that not ever computer user is 20 and has perfect eyesight. God, how I hate the tiny font size in so many games and even platforms like Steam. And getting a monitor capable of 165 hz was _such_ game-changer. All of a sudden, I could disconcern text and icons etc. again, even though my new monitor also was an upgrade from 1080p to 1440p. I would not have believed how much of an improvement higher refresh rates are until I had experienced it myself. Such a relief for my old eyes.

If you own an older card and play in 1080p, upgrade your cpu instead of your card. This way, you can wait for the next series of GPUs. I upgraded from Ryzen 5 1600 to 5600x, got 1.5x and sometimes 3x the framerates. Cyberpunk 2077 also saw a good bump and now can play in High graphics. Biggest game bumps were in these games: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (3x framerate) NFS: Heat (1.5x) Kingdom Come Deliverance (1.5x) Rage 2 (2.5x) Far Cry: New Dawn (2x) Not all games I tried had a speed bump, so it totally depends on the game requirements.

@@thomsons16 But that's the whole point what I meant. Whatever GPU you have do not upgrade it, buy a new CPU. Especially now that Ryzen 7000 will come in a month time. I personally have RX580 4GB but never would have thought the CPU in 1080p had a 3x impact on some games. So the GPU is not as much important in 1080p as you would think.

I have GeForce GTX 750 Ti, 2GB and Intel, Core i5-4460 (Z97 Anniversary motherboard). I know i'm not that good with the upgrade stuff but my PC's kinda old and i still doubt that PCU upgrade would be better than GPU for me (both should be better). For some time i'm wanting to upgrade to something better but not too expensive. For now thinking about GeForce GTX 1660 or something similar. The problem is that this is not how the market works! Even if everyone randomly stopped buying/trying to buy GPUs, the supply would not still be enough for the prices to go down consistently. Also taking inflation into consideration, I doubt we'll see GPUs go down to the prices they were before the pandemic, any time soon.

My son is 15 and building a computer for gaming. Not hardcore E-sports stuff, just playing online with his friends. He has the motherboard (MSI B450 AMD Gaming Pro) processor (AMD Ryzen 5 5600x), 16 GB DDR 4 RAM, and a 700 watt power supply. The GPU they had was $500, seemed a bit steep given all of that was about the same. I don’t even remember what kind it was but is it even possible to get a decent GPU for that setup in the $200-$300 range or so I have to bite the bullet and go $500 (in the states, he doesn’t have a monitor yet either so that’s another pending purchase.)

i have a GTX EVGA 1070 and i got that second hand off facebook years ago now and for £200 and it has done me well and i still love it and play all my games at 4k 60fps on my LG TV. i also have an old i5 6400 and i dont have problems and have all my games at highest setting. i dont think im due an upgrade yet. i cant wait for the sons of the forest coming out the 23rd. on a youtube vide someone was saying system requirements or minimum were 12gb of ram and 16gb highest and i7 and rtx 2060 something like that and then i checked online and my pc will be fine as hell even max settings and i remember buying most my parts 2015 as of build. i would love to make a new build but debating should i go ITX or build a water cooled build with ATX as ive got the ASUS pro gaming b150m motherboard and it has bone me great but its annoying not finding nice cases to put it in and show it off like where as ATX is the mainstream and now ITX but also they dont have many cases with windows but idk if i want a air system or silent GPU or water cooled system. sorry for the essay i hope u can give me some ideas. im not clued up on PSU either and see the ITX are not that powerful compared to say like my EVGA 850watt which is more than enough but im thinking at least 500watt would be minimum for a big GPU an so on.

Used to repair computers to the chip level. As an experienced tech can tell you that you will appreciate having the option of trying built in graphics if your system ever develops a loss of video output because of a failed graphics card, power supply or motherboard type issue.

@@roberthoadley5285 I agree with that, but for a common build like this which is targeted to a broad public this doesn't seem like a very good deal. You could also have a secondary PSU, SSD etc. in case the first one fails, but that's not the case here because you can just purchase another one in that case. Spending extra for a CPU that is both more expensive and less powerful just in case the GPU ever fails (which would prevent you from playing anyway) isn't a very good idea IMO

running a ryzen 5 2600 + gtx 1080 with MSI b450 gaming pro carbon that i build since feb 2019 (bought parts since 2018), in a 34" Xiaomi ultrawide 1440p 144hz monitor, of course im not reaching 144fps, i know, as long it reaches 60fps plus, im fine with it. mostly i play genshin which only locks at 60fps, and some random pc games depends on boredness, and also android emulators (or other emulators like ps3 emulators last time). my plan was rtx 3070 last time but since im still saving at that time, i was reached until prices suddenly rise because of COVID. sadly im not on your country, and im from 3rd world one, so price is aint so friendly and not to mention prices and gonna be so good until 2023 so, .... might to wait i think.......

@@toyomoma.6841 depends at what timeframe are you refering to. I build the 7960X on a Rampage VI extreme with 64 GB of DDR4 and a 2080Ti more than 3 years ago and the cost was near to 7000£. ( adding here the 2×M.2 samsung 970Evo and a PG 27UQ / "The God Of Monitors"). Later I've added another 2080Ti for a Sli, and later when it launched, a STRIX 3090. I still have a 2080Ti .. I'll use ot for anothe build.. Now I'm waiting for the 12900, a ASUS MB, Z690F, 32 GB of DDR5 and a new cooling system. I would say the last upgrade ( CPU, MB, RAM, Cooling system would be close to 1500£ )

@@4kPcGamingokay well then the time frame from when you buy the 12 gen I suppose. putting that type of money you should be spending around at least 2500$ . Should last you good 5-6 years
