FYI, the new aluminum RD2.0 sus mount is a "E" mount, so if you want to install one to replace the plastic sus mount, you also need a "D" sus mount for the RF position also, as the aluminum part is wider than the plastic one.

@@drzaizenko555 FYI, Yokomo just released now the same size "D" RR sus mount in AL. Part# RD-301AD - "This is an aluminum suspension mount for the rear side of the RD2.0. The center position (#1) with bushings will be the standard suspension pin position.". This will install using the standard RF plastic sus mount and keep the suspension stock setting. Still need the bushings for the AL mount to be installed.

Great video....I had a RDX and overall, just noticed the cost to upgrade some basic parts like a YD-2 was gonna cost even more....like adding turnbuckles and gear diff, and that's why I sold it and went to the RD2.0. Also, the new HobbyWIng XR10 Stock Spec G2 has some really nice options/features like higher end ESCs, and although more expensive than the QUICRUN 10BL120 G2, has the drift feature tuning settings you want, but for less than a XD10 ESC and both are 100amp rated.

Also got a question, which chassis you would say its going to have a "longest" life. I mean, which one can be hard modded if im only going to a run 1 of these chassis?
@RollingGarageRc
@RollingGarageRc Ай бұрын
@@A13XzN6 Thank You for watching! Personally, I would say the RD2.0 as of right now. Being Yokomo based, there are plenty of competitive conversion kits available for the RD/YD-2 platform that are being used at the top tier of driving currently. The RDX also is starting to get wider aftermarket support but not being on the market for nearly as long as the Yokomo, I would say there is a bigger aftermarket support for the RD2 for the moment.

@A13XzN6 Ай бұрын
@@RollingGarageRc And why people choose the RDX over the RD 2.0?
@RollingGarageRc
@RollingGarageRc Ай бұрын
@@A13XzN6 The RD2.0 is fairly new compared to the RDX. The RDX has been well established as a car that is more or less ready to rip out of the box and is very quick to put together due to fixed suspension links and an oil-less differential but as I’ve found in the video, I think the RD2.0 is a slightly better performing out of the box chassis for the money. New people may be intimidated by having to build the adjustable links and differential but there are also plenty of people that have bought themselves the RD2.0 already and started modifying them with upgrade parts.

@@RollingGarageRcreally hope you keep making videos, subtitles help non-english people. Also I got the RDX Recommended while ago, but this thing cost 70 euros less than the RDX.. so yeah.. we will see how this scale... RDX have a really good aftermarket behind and the Rd 2.0 is practically new.

@@RollingGarageRc would you say the RD2.0 or RDX has the edge in durability? I will be a parking lot drifter as there are no local tracks. This means I may bump into things or hit debris so I need something more durable than a track car.
@RollingGarageRc
@RollingGarageRc Ай бұрын
@@TheImtoomuch Nice! I think the Traxxas will get a whole new generation into RC drifting who will hopefully stick around for the long run. As for durability, the RDX has fixed links that would be less prone to bending, breaking, or changing alignment and also a solid spool differential that requires less maintenance than an oil filled gear differential but both chassis are pretty stout for outdoor driving.

If you talking about short term plan. Just want play out of the box, i agree that RD2 is might be the right choice. You were right RDX still had a lot of things to upgrade to get more adjustable setup. But if you take a look on future update in RC Drift Scene. The problem with yokomo is lack of Racing Development. And now with MD2 Chassis setup its kinda disconnected upgrade with RD2. After bunch of upgrades you have nothing left with RD and you might be switch chassis at that point. Either RDX or yokomo MD,SD Meanwhile RDX with takahiro has a long term plan with the chassis.
@RollingGarageRc
@RollingGarageRc Ай бұрын
@@sideproject4142 I think the RD has plenty of room to grow considering its compatibility with past YD-2 upgrades either from Yokomo or aftermarket companies as well as future upgrades coming. These two being beginner chassis, I think out of the box performance without any upgrades is important to consider when choosing either as your first chassis as most beginners will be wanting to learn the fundamentals first without tuning knowledge or wanting to upgrade parts right away.

@@RollingGarageRc you were correct. My point is As an user you would never be on begginer mode for so long. Soon or later trust me or maybe Next week you just bought your first upgrades🤣🤣🤣 (blame your friend for this). I agree with 3rd party support this chassis still have room to grow, the problem is how much time and money you need to drain out just to find correct setup (trial and error). Unless if you were a pro you might be surpass that problem easily cause you have experience and sense of how the mechanics works. But for begginer like me i need a guide, an option parts that would not lead to confussion. And thats factory development team job to build sustainable and scalable chassis.
@RollingGarageRc
@RollingGarageRc Ай бұрын
@@sideproject4142 At least the parts support for the RD2 is there. You can always move onto another chassis later on such as the SD or MD series but I think the RD2 setup and layout is good enough to take it all the way to the end if it’s a chassis you find you like enough to stick with. Building and upgrading as you go is all part of the hobby! 😁

Also having both chassis since I wanted to know whats better in my opinion and also something compareable I came out with the same result. The RD2.0 is simply the cheaper and better chassis. Sure building the RD2.0 is a bit more challenging than the RDX but the car you have is significantly more competitive due to it having adjustability. The only bad thing about the RD2.0 in my opinion are the shocks while the RDX plastic shocks are phenomenal. At the current state I personally cant recommend beginners to buy the RDX new only if they get a good used deal on it otherwise its an easy recommendation for the RD2.0

@@alpin2k7 Yes I did notice the RD2.0 shocks leaking slightly after driving for a while but that seems to be pretty typical of any plastic Yokomo shock. Also the shocks tend to be the first upgrade for someone with an all plastic chassis anyways. 😁
