I have a question. I couldn’t see the two products you used to make the glaze. I assume one of them was paint. What was the milky white stuff you added to the paint? Thanks in advance for clarifying this for me.

That was a glaze medium.the one I used was Modern Masters Tintable Glaze, but there are many glaze mediums on the market that come in smaller quantities. When mixed with a bit of paint, they make a tinted glaze that is translucent and has a long open time :)

Glaze is used to give more working time to your paint(open time). It also allows your paint to flow better and blend better! Additionally, it is a key ingredient when making an antiquing glaze. Maybe I should do a little video about glaze and its purpose, others may be wondering about its purpose as well !

@@artinaroundwithmindy I think a video about glaze would be awesome great addition to your lineup. I’ve been wondering about it a bit since watching this video. I’ll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for coming back with more information. Sometimes I don’t know the question to ask. Now I know why to use glaze medium.

@@MamaJLW will do , thank you for the input! I do have a several videos where I do some glazing on large objects which is fun to watch and can give you a feeling about how glaze can be used in that regard. The one that comes to mind is when I glazed antique pillars for a client to match some stonework on their fireplace. I’ll see if I can attach a link here.
Do you let first layer of air dry clay completely air dry before adding the next layer.

Not necessarily! You can “add on”at any stage in the drying process by rewetting the dried surface, adding slip, scoring etc. but sometimes I let the piece dry completely before the next stage because it may be easier to handle, as I don’t want you to disturb the wet work I’ve already done. Lock it down with drying. Does that make sense?
