Hey Jim, I know there are differences in the abdomens of sulphurs from region to region. Some differ on the same water, the dark abdomen you have on this emerger I have never seen. Are they really that dark? I did hear you say you "could use a lighter one" I assumed you meant to match your own hatch. I would love to know if there are really sulphur emergers that dark on your water. All the best, Sean

Sean, The abdomen on this fly is representative of the nymphal shuck and not the adult. The adult is the pale yellow that is stuck in the shuck. Jim

Oh okay I get why you said it was an emerger however, the wings threw me. You know no matter how many books I read there is always the exception. I thought you had some species I hadn't seen before. Nothing new under the sun. right? All the best, Sean
