You just brought back a memory. 73 years ago I would go to my local movie theater. Santa sat on the stage. We children were invited to tell him what we wanted for Christmas gifts. Then we were given an orange and a small box of candies. It was a memorable time. 😊
@kathyscrazylife29 күн бұрын
The company my father worked for rented out the movie theatre downtown and all the employees’ children would watch the movie and as we left they gave us a stocking with a coloring book, colors, chocolate candies, and a silver dollar.

I also zest some of the oranges (or lemons) and keep in freezer bags for recipes that call for zest. I am blessed to have a lemon tree in my back yard. I also freeze lemon juice in ice cube trays and store in freezer bags and also frozen lemon slices, perfect for iced tea or ??

I just LOVE this whole video! OJ, marmalade, candied orange peel - that’s a good winter celebration right there! When I was growing up near Lake Erie (far north), we had cousins who lived in Florida. Every winter they sent boxes of oranges and grapefruits from their own trees. What a treat!

I also think oranges smell like Christmas. My grandparents had bowls of oranges, tangerines, and whole nuts to crack every December.

Plus those giant peppermint sticks.😋You know that kind that grandma had to break with a hammer lol. We'd eat peppermint with saltine crackers oooo so good and how sweet they tasted together. All at night and smuggled up under a hand made blanket in front of the fireplace.oh and hot chocolate to sip on...ooh how I miss those things with my grandma and aunt..I do the same things with my grandbabies. They love it.✨😋 I want to make as many memories with them so they can pass it down to their grandbabies someday💜✨🕊️🙏🕯️💜

First thing: I am not disputing your instructions just sharing from my own personal experience as the daughter of a mom and dad who canned fresh food frequently. They never routinely de-bubbled and most often didn’t remove the rings. They were married over 65 years. None of us died from food poisoning!! That was just the old way. The reason the rings stayed on was to keep from bumping the flat and dislodging it!
@donnawheeler6283Ай бұрын
Braydon, you and your mom had a big job ahead of you, and you really stepped up! There's nothing like OJ that is not from concentrate. Yum! The dehydrated orange 🍊 slices decorating the jars are so pretty. Brooke, I've seen dehydrated orange slices on a garland and used during the holidays as a decoration. Those are very pretty, too.
