this is THE best chord transition out! i've been learning for a year and struggled and could not get past certain issues, this cleared it all up. went back to all these basics for each chord and the new ideas for the transitions and moving at the up strum and i'm crazy improved immediately!!!! i'm so grateful, thank you!

Damn.... as an ACTUAL beginner, this is finger torture. Am I supposed to be building-up calluses while also learning these chords? Should I keep my fingernails cut super-close below the length of my fingers? I am so new... virgin new, I am not even certain how to hold a guitar properly, new, and I have zero music theory, not ONE single lesson from an actual person. I just picked up a guitar and told myself that I wanted to learn how to play it, just so that I know how. This is one of my favorite instruments to listen to, and I would like to know how to entertain myself. I am not looking to become a professional musician, by any means. All I want to do, is know how to play the guitar. Your videos are teaching me quite a bit. I thank you, Good Sir, for taking the time out of your day, in order to teach a perfect stranger how to understand theory and chord shapes. Thank you, so much!

Good luck. I learned completely from KZbin and I got pretty good I think. I’ve going back on old videos that helped me to feel nostalgic ig. But yea calluses take a while to build sometimes u just fight through the pain and keep practicing and sometimes u just have to stop. Hope u r still playing guitar is rlly fun and it has helped me make a lot of new friends that I jam with regularly. Good luck

Nice instruction. currently I get frustrated when I try practicing a chord, then move to another chord, and then struggle to remember the original chord.. I create the inability to memorize by getting frustrated and ultimately neglect picking the guitar up to practice when I should :( I'm going to try this.. and hopefully it'll work better for me. excellent lesson.. thank you.

I am re-learning after a 5+ year break. And even though I was a song writer I played by ear and by mental visual memory of chords and scales. Which held me back. So this time I am starting by memorizing chords and notes and scales the way you're supposed to. This video was very digestible and helped a lot. Cheers!
@Joey-Jett3 жыл бұрын
This may be a bit extreme but since I took up acting (and having phenomenally terrible memory) I found that repeating each part 50 times helped solidify it. In the Army, self discipline was taught by being told to do 50 push-ups and any that weren't correct didn't count, because cheating yourself or being "too" kind yourself didn't accumulate dramatic progress. Now, I've been blending both of those techniques to your lessons and although it's taken a few hours, I can transition quickly and cleanly to the F chord from anywhere. I used a metronome at 75bpm and counted "1" muscle memory repetition (out of 50) after 10 metronome clicks, then rested and stretched my fingers for 10 more clicks. I ended up doing that 1500 times with a break after every 100. My fingers are a little sore, but every time I came back after a break I was more quickly able to snap immediately into place. I plan on doing this for a week straight with a different chord each day after doing 10 repetitions with the chord(s) I learned the day(s) before to keep them fresh before I start learning some songs. Long story short, these exercises work tremendously and I can't thank you enough for helping me find an effective practice regiment.
