Just cool. And awesome. Love it.

Thank you. By the way the tower has now survived 75 mph winds here in Texas during a storm. We estimated the wind speed rating at over 110 mph. Probably the antenna would not survive but the tower should still be there.

I found that a rented hammer drill works great for driving in the ground rods. Takes all the work out of it.

I agree but in my case I hired out the work. 73

+Paul Deyo Yes, when I retired I decided to put up a tower, bring out a bunch of other hams with some BBQ and sit back and watch it happen! :) 73

Will you be putting any VHF or higher band antennas up there? I seem to recall 6m being active in the Dallas/North Texas area when I lived there in the mid 2000's

i have about 60 ft of tower like that, but just wanna put about 30 up. did not realize i needed 4 ft of tower in the ground.

No VHF-UHF on the tower-- I already have a Comet GP9 mounted fairly high over the storage building in the backyard. I also intend to keep the QSO King long wire to use on 160-6meters.- if I need any odd bands like 17 meters or 6 meters.

However I will attach a pulley to the top of the tower so I can pull up wire antennas -- want to experiment with resonant 80 meter wire.

Hello Joe, im planning to install my first tower, Do you remember the dimensions of the hole? how deep ?regards CE1PTT
@JoeLalumia8 жыл бұрын
Yes 3ft square by 4ft deep. Took almost 2 yards of concrete-- if I remember 1.8 yards. There is rebar cage inside the hole and gravel on the bottom. I show that in one of the tower videos. 73
