I can't even do this much, and I've been exercising 3 times per week for several months. My legs won't come off the ground without my back arching and hurting.

@@feral5374 Isn't that what I said? What can I do to work up to this point? There must be other moves I can do to strengthen the muscles that I need to be able to do this with proper form. Or, are there props or modifications to enable me to do this with good form until I get stronger?

​@@dianekmkThis is actually one of the easier exercise to work the ab region. Other require you to already have a strong core and/or stronger muscles on other parts of your body. Lifting the head is what helped me dive my lower back onto the floor and keep it there. Just starting out, so cannot maintain the exercise for long though.

Adding exercise back into my lifestyle. THANK YOU for the movement progression on the leg raise and considering those individuals starting, not yet having the strength to jump into full form that maximize the full benefits of a specific exercise.

Thankfully my core and chest are the two areas I've focused on for something like 8 months at this point consistently, so they're great, but let me tell you... 90% of ab workouts result in back pain regardless of form.

My physical therapist had me doing this after my concussion. Keep your lower back pressed against the floor, that's how the effects are felt. Very effective exercise.

Ok, for the leg raise, the first one he does, some KZbinr say put your hands beneath your butt, some KZbinr say put your hands on your sides, which one is it??? You guys make me crazy since I'm new to the scene (only begin to exercise 3 months ago) and want to do it right

When my legs are up, my lower back is touching the ground but when I lower my legs, my lower back cannot touch the ground Idk why
