I have my fathers old fly book and he has a streamer that is very similar to that except it has white hair, two strips of peacock, and what looks like a grizzly wing. Is that another version of this streamer or something different?

Couldn't really say without seeing a picture or getting a name for it.

Are the eyes actually necessary on these types of streamers? Thinking about the Mickey Finn that works great without any eyes

Attractor patterns like the Mickey Finn rely on their colours to do the job. If we're tying a realistic pattern, then the eyes are required. Attractor patterns work great when the fish are in an aggressive mood, but the realistic patterns are overall, more reliable.
