Very nice. Couple of additional tips. Put your cell phone in "airplane mode" so you don't get messed up with texts and/or phone calls while flying. Second, one of your remote antennas was deployed backwards in this video. You want both with the flat side facing towards the drone.
@EdRickerVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Good point about the airplane mode. However, my remote antennae's don't turn that way. In order for them to point up away from the controller, they have to be oriented the way I have them in the video.

Very informative. I have had my Mavic Pro for a few months, but had to put it on the shelf for other priorities. Having to relearn the basics on vacation, I found this tutorial. As he says in the beginning, I wished I had known these tips when I first pulled it out of the box. The new (to me) world of drones can be overwhelming, and the DJI tutorials and guides leave a lot out for the beginner.

Pro tip: download all the manual PDFs from www.DJI.com - especially the Mavic Pro User Guide, which was not included in my brand new Mavic Pro I bought a month ago, and it contains a LOT more info than all the little printed booklets inside the Mavic box. That User Manual REALLY should have been included in the box, since there’s SO many features and settings and options and things to be aware of. Even after 45 Flights in 1.5 months with my Spark and Mavic Pro, I am still learning important new things all the time. (For instance: the DJI GO 4 app video settings default to 50hz for AntiFlicker, which only makes sense for Europe, and seems to result in weird flickering watching the videos on my HDTV. Anyone in USA should change that setting to 60Hz, I’m 99% sure. (Please comment if you have a definitive answer.)

imagine if you will, going back in time to..ohh...hmm...1964 and go to an RC model hotspot with the Mavic Pro. The guys back in the day would freak! People spent fortunes to fly their garage made planes and the tech was extremely low in comparison. I'm 60 years old and blown away with the "progress" of modern living. The technology of today is awesome and the future looks bizarre with unknown discoveries!
@wilfdarr7 жыл бұрын
Dude! I'm in my thirties: when I first got into RC, helicopters were $2-5k. No kid could afford that! Now, with 4k video, autonomous flight, etc they are $500! And that's not correcting for inflation. My dad took a sled to school so, ya, that's where we've come in 80 years…
@camdenb84687 жыл бұрын
Wilfred Darr actually this is $999.99. Is basically 1K. Trust me, I've had my Mavic Pro for awhile now
@wilfdarr7 жыл бұрын
Camden B Sorry yes I know the Mavic is more, I meant that you can get an off brand with 4k video and basic return to home for as little as $500. The old nitro helicopters didn't have hover, return to home, and certainly not 4k video (heck you might have rigged a simple battery powered 35mm with a servo triggered shutter but no video camera of that time would have been light enough for a $5000 RC helicopter. We've come a long way! And that was only about 25 years ago.

Hey Ed...Great vid but I still have a question. Mavic has a couple of modes to fly in and a couple of switches that put you in one mode or another. Now, please bear with me because I am getting near Gezzer-hood and it's grimy claws are reaching for me. The switch is on the side is on the right side of the Mavic and it toggles between "Wi-Fi" and "RC". The word is that you must set it to the latter in order to fly it. Okay. So what's all this jazz about the SSID and Password? No, I haven't flown my Mavic yet. In fact, the remote never seems to be able to "Connect" so whenever I've turned it on (remote first, then the Mavic, the remote spends it's time trying to connect (don't we all?!?). So Ed, give me a hint and push me in the right direction....PLEASE? Thanks, Bob

Question: firmware update out of the box too? At the moment there is a version 3 for the drone and a version 2 for the controller but should they not be the same version i.e. downgrade the Mavic to match the controller?
@EdRickerVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching! My firmware was actually up-to-date right out of the box. However, if you connect the controller to the drone and app with cellular connection, it will scan the devices automatically and update the firmware very easily. As for a firmware discrepancy between the controller and the drone, I don't know...mine seems to match. That's odd to me.

My old lower 5S would not. I'd appreciate any help in what is my best &'easiest phone to use for App Integration and flying it - videoing - and taking pictures? I'll be do most flying from a wheelchair to start or other chairs and stationary platforms until I can afford proper electric wheelchair. Making this AS EASY AS POSSIBLE GIVEN PHYSICAL CHALLENGES IS CRITICAL. So your help and help from others as well as advice would be greatly appreciated. There's so much I can't do physically anymore, but flying drones is FUN, ACTIVE, ALLOWS ME TO DO WHAT OTHER NON DISABLED DO, AND HANG OUT WITH FRIENDS. I am financially challenged due to Social Security Disability Income Only, but wonder what screen options, iOS Phones etc, will make viewing and operating it the easiest & funnest experiences. I'm 57 years old but have the positive attitude and enthusiasm of when I was 25-30. Just need some help from the drone community. SORRY SO VERY LONG, BUT I NEEDED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU. I CONDENSED IT BY 95% too‼️ Look forward to hearing from you. William ~ alias ~ 🔥HELL ON WHEELS ♿️

Important couple of extra points for beginners: * Never start a departing procedure on a dirty place like he did. The Mavic Gimbal is way to much sensible, and any particle can obstruct the motors. * if you play games of any kind, you can change the function of both the axis, so it can fix better for you taste (Controller settings). * You can enable the extra 30° of camera inclination so you'll be able to look up when flying (Settings》Gimbal》Advanced) * On aircraft settings, adjust the level of break. I reccomend just a little more than the standard. Anyway you like. * To take good pictures on extreme dark environments, change to Manual mode (M), ISO to 800 and raise the Shutter to more than 1 sec. Don't move the aircraft until the photo is done. * NEVER transport the drone without the Gimbal Clamp. Again, it's really sensible. * The height is measured according to the start point, not the level of sea. *Always observe the terrain around for long flights. Adjust the height for automatic return (RTH) based on the tallest thing observable. *You CAN actually use the Gimbal helmet to fly, unlike what he said, but never the clamp. In fact, the gimbal cover is a good way to fly in dangerous places and it does not affect the aircraft at all. Note: The helmet blurs the image a little. Good flight

@13:19 you advise to use the lowest ISO setting and mention the grain. In the days of film, faster film speeds did use larger grains of silver emulsions to increase light sensitivity and ISO was a real concern. In a digital pixel matrix, is there really any reason to be concerned with the ISO equivalent when setting shutter speed (and, in some digital cameras, aperture for depth of field...a setting it seems could enhance a drone's imaging) when setting exposure levels? I would think that using the highest ISO and fastest shutter for the available light would be best for drone footage and give the sharpest still frames. Yes/No? What might be a better adjustment is having control of a physical aperture and the gamma

High ISO above the native ISO rated by the camera will always increase noise and video degradation. My GH5 has a native ISO of 400, and my DVX200 has a native ISO of 500. Anything over that will increase exposure values but will increasingly add noise and grain and loss of dynamic range to the image the higher you pump the ISO. For the Mavic, an 800 ISO may still be ok, but a 1600 will definitely begin to reveal some noise and grain.

I am 127 years old and in watching your video I can confidently say I am now microwaving popcorn with absolutely zero burning and few unpopped kernels. Thank you and I look forward to more of your videos, young man.

ED ! I have a question about the beginners guide part 1. on your video, you connected your controller with a USB cable. The other end to a Micro USB to your phone. Where can obtain this cable ? Thank You Gary

This is what I bought: amzn.to/3gI6MXV I bought the two-pack because those cables are easy to misplace.
