Great video. Can you do one on importing dxf files from Inkscape? I often have trouble getting good results.

Another well-prepared video but a little too fast (with keyboard shortcuts) for me, a beginner. I created a circle ring with an initial inside, e.g. monogram, with a draw program (Affinity Designer) and exported it as a "simple" SVG. When I insert the SVG, it was nowhere to be found but if I zoomed out of the canvas it was way over in the RL corner upside down. I had to scale it to 0.08 and move it to my selected plane. I can live with that but I could not find a way to precisely center the sketch to the origin other than by just eyeballing it. I suspect the answer is in this video by using another sketch object, e.g. enclosing rectangle and using construction lines (made magically somehow). Do you have any suggestions about creating the SVG better so it's not huge and so far away from the origin? And how to precisely position the center of the circle on the origin?

The simple act of combining move and scale into one operation would be a game changer. Just like inserting an svg... but for everything.

This may sound silly, and I’ve never talked with Autodesk about it, but I know from talking with other CAD platforms that the best way to get these kinds of changes made is to submit a support ticket… it’s really the only way for product managers to know what people want and to justify it to their dev team

I never experienced the incorrect size with SVGs using Inkscape. Whatever is displayed in Inkscape comes in correct in Fusion. Actually, Inkscape is my #1 tool with Fusion. The spline tools in Fusion simply are too primitive for the designs I do. I have read somewhere it has something to do with DPI settings or user units. I have mine set to 1 user unit = 1 px. One thing that does annoy me is that Fusion 360 does not have the capability of scaling an imported SVG to exact dimensions. You can only do proportional scaling during the import. I have an extensive library of SVG files and the constant rescaling or editing is a little too much. I have found a work around though. Simply import the SVG. Unfix it. Then use the dimensional tool to specify height, width or even a single element. Everything will rescale proportionally to that dimension. There is a limit to this technique until the sketch breaks. You must have "Scale entire sketch at first dimension" enabled in design preferences. If you have an already dimensioned sketch that you want to import the SVG then create a new sketch on the same plane. Import the SVG. Dimension it to scale it. Copy the profile. Simply paste it to the targeted sketch. Then you can disable the preference.

I get error messages every time I try to import an SVG or DXF file into Fusion from Abobe Illustrator. The image won’t even show up in Fusion.

that was GREAT THANK YOU now I can stop pulling my hair out. Question why do DXF files come in upside down some times same file?

Hmmm good question. Hard to say for sure but to me the most likely culprit is the Plane / Sketch that you are referencing in the import dialogue box. Every plane has positive and negative “normal” direction (basically a front and back side). If the normal direction is facing the opposite direction from what you are expecting your DXF will face the wrong way.

Anyone know why it takes a long time to load dxf files into fusion? I’ve upgraded my gpu and running ryzen9. I paid for thousands of dxf files and anything with some kind of detail lags fusion. I can see a lot of points in the file but it’s a 2d image not some complex 3d model which I’ve had more ease loading up. To top it off when I import the dxf into sheet cam the image isn’t near the same as in fusion or Inkscape. Broken or missing lines. Any help is appreciated.
