Bonus tip for mining - Before you start firing that mining laser, wait for the bad guys to come and scan your ship, once they scan and leave, you can mine without worrying about getting ganked.

A few time stamps for this video: Road to Riches: 0:37 Passenger Missions: 3:16 Mining: 4:46 Ground Conflict Zones: 6:27 Expansion Trade missions: 8:17 profit from these as stated by psyche plays: Road to Riches: 100 million in a few hours (probably around 33 mil/hour) Passenger missions: around 100 million an hour Mining: unstated (unless i missed it) but mining, for me, generally nets around 65 mil an hour Ground Conflict Zones: around 50 million an hour Expansion Trade missions: 100 to 200 million per hour or more if you have other players! this was a really useful video! sub and like from me.

Important tip when mining: Don't only go for the highest paying station! If the quantity of whatever you're selling surpasses 1/4th of the demand value, the prices will decrease dramatically! Be mindful of that!

I have been making between 5 - 11 mil doing hard ground combat zone missions

I did alot of them for the CG that gave a discount on the Cutter, in the end the CG rewards and the CZ payouts paid the Cutter and then some. Was way more lucrative than space CZ.

High risk ground combat zones approached via Frontline are a safe and easy way to get a lot of money fast early on. Buy some guns and a dominator suit, then shadow your AI team mates. If you can focus on keeping enemy shields down with the laser rifle from afar while your team mates are more up close and aggressive, it's easier to stay alive longer to rake in more bounty vouchers tagging enemies. Never try to take on more than one enemy alone unless you put a lot of effort into engineering your suit and weapons, because most of them seem to have more shields, health, and deal more damage than you do with the standard level 1, and even some level 2 and 3 if you got lucky, gear from the shop. And time in the dropship respawning is time you aren't tagging enemies and supporting the AI team mates to make sure they keep up and ideally either win, or help you take down so many enemies before losing that you have a lot of combat vouchers anyways. That victory payout is definitely just a drop in the bucket compared to how much you can make regardless of match outcome if you're careful.

Thank you! Disclaimer: like I said in the video, the missions aren't always available as it seems to pull missions from a pool of different types. This method works best if you have a friend or two also looking for missions at the same time so you up your chances of finding a few and can share, but I was getting at least one or two of them each time I visited a station that was in Expansion last week.

If i could, I'd like to point out something about Robigo Mines Passenger missions. I'm a returning Commander and needed credits, and was already ALLIED with Sirius Corp. Fly all the way out to Robigo in a Python with passenger cabins.. and no passenger missions. Because, the passenger missions were being run not by Sirius Corp but by (as of today June 22) CDE Corporation and Robigo Cartel. Dumping my Exploration data did nothing since the station is run by Sirius. SO: Buy the passenger cabins and leave them somewhere, and BRING cargo racks. Do a few cargo runs for CDE and Robigo Cartel, as I will have to, until your rep. goes up with those two factions. Then ship the stored passenger cabins over to Robigo, it takes about 90 minutes real time. I suspect Psyche and many others had previously run the old money making cargo missions here, so the rep. was already high enough for the Passenger missions to not be greyed out. Also, if your hull aren't at 100%, all passenger missions will be greyed out. Thanks.

When I started, I loved to do something that is not so mentioned out there. There are different types of facilities here and there orbiting around planets and moons... Medical facilities, military facilities, prison facilities, etc... If you visit these facilities, you'll trigger a pirate invasion. Many NPCs will spawn, friend and foe, and you'll be able to join in the invasion. You can get a lot of bounties from a couple of waves. I found this a great way to make some good starting money and also work in my dogfighting skills.

Wow! Been a veteran for a few years now and had now idea that for many ‘mining expansion’ missions, I don’t actually have to mine! If many of these minerals can be bought as commodities, that’s opening a whole new trade possibility for me by signing up for these as well as traditional ‘boom time delivery’ or ‘source & return’ missions. Managed to stumble across a gas planet ring in my home system full of Gold, Platinum, Osmium and Palladium which nettet me so much money that I am sure I will be able to afford a Asp Explorer in no time. Just started a week ago, with a VR headset. I have to say, this is a childhood fantasy come true, having grown up reading and watching anything science fiction. I just had an amazing experience cataloguing plants in a remote world. From a cataloguing test run, I know for a fact that the hour or so I spent in that system **may** get me around 1M credits. But I feel like I can't play the game thinking about credits/hour, or it'll just become a minmaxing grind, using third party tools to increase profit. I don't want to use third party tools, I want to play the game as the devs intended (although in this genre devs tend to think people have 90 years of play time available to stumble upon specific things meant to be rare, which I'm not a supporter of). And at least to some extent, playing as intended has earned me the greatest gaming experience of my life, barring maybe Homeworld, but the concepts are pretty different. Thanks for the newbie help, I'm not following your guides, but there is lateral information in there that I'm looking for.

I'm fairly new myself, but I've been making pretty decent money just hanging around miners and running guard detail. Turning in bounties has netted about 40 million (just upgraded to a cobra mk 3!) so far, plus you eventually get the local police to back you up, so it's fairly low risk. Though, I would like to try out the discovery/mining side of things eventually, I think that'll be the next ship I build

Great video. I really wish they would buff the payouts for exobiology. It looks like a really fun and zen gameplay loop to get into but I'd love at least something to show for it in terms of credits for module upgrades and such.

After some time in trading and dealing with pirates I discover exploratoin as relaxing and quite profitable role. From this point I really enjoy this game, have private FC far away from bubble, occasional gaming is enough for upkeep costs - just few systems scan is enough.

You can definitely make more money! I advise pacing yourself because otherwise it can feel like a bit of a grind, and there's not TOO much you need money for, but when you need it these are some great options!

i like to do cargo missions black box and salvage missions, i can pick up high grade materials at the same time and also get interdicted by npc anacondas which bring in good bounties, its not a great way to make money per hour but its a nice way to immerse yourself in the game and make money at the same time

Mining rush missions are not popping up for me, although I am allied with the controlling faction that is in expansion, and the station I dock at belongs to that faction. Am I doing something wrong?

For odyssey owners starting out I strongly recommend on foot CZ they are by far the fastest way to make money from the gate and come with 0 risk. Even high CZ can be run with c1 gear if you have experience with poor ai as they are all very easy to manipulate. But even low cz can get you a mil per go. That is far faster than road to riches even in a well built explorer let alone side winder. You can die all you want and even lose the zone and still keep the bonds you made. In road to riches. If you die all that time was waisted + cost of rebuy

Yup, that's exactly why it's in the video! But a lot of folks haven't got Odyssey yet, so the other methods are still viable for them. On foot CZs are suuuper fun too, so definitely my preferred way at the moment!

nice collection! pretty sure you are the only one mentioning the wing-missions properly. making money should not be the center of the game anyway, it makes the gameplay dull after a short time and the player misses a lot of aspects of the game.

Mind if I ask what settings and hardware you're running? I'm using an i7 7700k and a 2080TI but the performance I get in on foot conflict zones is leaps and bounds worse than what I get elsewhere, and the gameplay you showed was so smooth I wasn't sure it was possible! I'm generally running on high/ultra settings, and I know I should be turning something down in there, I'm just not sure what (this game has so many settings lmao) and I'd rather not be turning down settings I don't have to.

There's still a lot of optimisation that needs to be done and I've heard Odyssey is CPU-bound! I do have a bit of a beastly PC but even mine was struggling up until a few patches ago so I hope they keep improving. I have a Ryzen 9 5950x and a 3080. Even so, when running on high/ultra I found that I was struggling in on-foot CZs and settlements until very recently. I did turn on the AMD FSR setting, and you can try turning supersampling down and see if it helps (but it does make a HUGE difference to quality.)

just finding this now (got ed months ago but never had a chance to download and play) a few questions (although idk if anyone will see its worth a shot) - my map doesn't have that side bar tis more like a rectangular information panel; is this just a change from updates to ingame ui or is it some sort of add on? - how do you change hud colours to whatever colour (from messing around ive only found a brightness setting)? nvm realized you have a video on this :D - can you make a guide on the exploration tools and how all the different sensors/ scanners work? its kind of confusing and idk where to start - can you also make a guide on some of the missions? theres a few ive attempted, gotten part way and then i cant figure out what to do (or if you cant make a video explaining it can youp oint me in the right direction to other resources / videos?) If you ever see this Psyche or any one else who cared to help a new player thanks in advance incase i dont see a reply for a while :)

Hey! The HUD in this video is from Odyssey, which looks a little different to the base game HUD. I can totally make a guide video on exploration tools, it's actually one of the next ones I'll be doing now that I have a bit more time to work on videos again! I can definitely do one on missions too. I'm not sure what resources would be good for that, I'll have a look when I'm at my PC but if anyone else sees this hopefully they can link some too. 💜

I get almost all my money from community goals. Once I discovered those, I never had any money problems again, and I have a carrier with enough money in it for several years of maintenance. These days, I also get a lot of money from thargoid hunting, but that’s not very beginner friendly.

Trading missions work even better if you stock up your fleet carrier somewhere cheap, jump to the mission station, then truck between the carrier and the station.

im still doing the robigo mines passengers if beginners wanna try that take a dolphin down to robigo mines and accept high paying passengers take them to sothis scan a beacon go back to mines earn 10m+ if your allied and elite explorer you can get 25 million per trip! its really simple to do low risk in solo session, evade all indictions you'll be fine.

One thing you missed is to get into a good squadron and they can help you with credits to get past the grind and get the ships you want faster. the info they have is invaluable to new commanders.

@@dakota8702 UI is different with odyssey, you need to buy it and download the update to change the ui scheme. You can modify your ui color to make it look like the purple you see in the game files, you need to watch a tutorial on youtube that shows you where to go to in the folder.

Is anyone else finding the ED miner's tool is becoming less useful over the last year? I go to an out of the way, pristine double overlaps, and can often search for 20 minutes before finding a single core. Is that typical?

For on foot conflict zones? You dock at any station in the system. The system just has to have ground settlements for you to be able to get on foot conflict zones to spawn, you can dock at any station or outpost in the system to speak to Frontline Solutions.

I must be missing something basic here, is there a significant difference for this guide between Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous Horizons? Nothing about this guide is familiar in my menus, but my game says Horizons though so is that where I've gone wrong?

The menus are pretty much the only difference with regards to the guide (and of course the Odyssey-only activity of on-foot combat). Horizons and Odyssey menus are different but the in-space gameplay is pretty much the same so the methods should still work!

Just to let you know, every time you talk your microphone picks up background high frequencies in the 15khz to 20khz range which gets a bit annoying. You can fix this by adding an EQ on your microphone in your recording software and cut out the high frequencies with a low pass filter.

I actually think I have resolved this, I was getting electrical interference from my old power strip and have switched to a new one now! I literally couldn't hear it and neither could most people so I had no idea until someone mentioned it in a comment on a previous video. To confirm, would love it if you could take a 2 second listen to my most recent video and see if you're still hearing anything (though running the audio through Spek does confirm it appears to be gone now): kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXy1aIGshaarkKc Either way, thank you to you and the previous commenter for bringing it to my attention! When I was at Robigo, most of the transport missions were for criminals who didn't want to be scanned. Do you take those missions or avoid them?

I take them! You're highly unlikely to be scanned going from an outpost to the tourist beacon, just make sure not to linger anywhere too long and avoid getting interdicted. The illegal passengers payout the best. 😉

Once you get allied with all factions you won't get scanned anymore. I don't. Just have 1 heatsink equipped, if a pirate interdicts you and somehow succeeds, popp that heatsink and jump away.

yup the robigo mines passenger missions are best done in a python (and not a dolphin. before someone mentions it). you are limited to the one medium pad though so its annoying if you don't beat the npc to it LOL... i use 3 business class instead of 3 economy for the 3 biggest optional slots because passengers will never ask for more than a 16-passenger cabin, and most of the robigo missions ask for economy cabins anyways (which get bumped up to business class anyways if the lower ones are taken). i get 15-25 mil per run (the hourly rate varies from person to person, but i can generally get 3 runs in in an hour since my ship/technique are not really optimized), and i tend to only take the low-value and non-wanted passengers incase i get interdicted. and yes, interdictions happen on passenger runs, but if you don't have wanted or high value passengers the npc pirates will scan you and leave you alone after they see you don't have anything they want. (i generally play in solo)

Your mileage may vary, I think it's worth it especially for 5 bucks. I don't think it's anywhere near being about to die. But I would personally caution you against grinding: you do not have to grind to have fun in this game. I personally think the grind will kill it for you. Dip your toe in and see if you enjoy the core gameplay before investing tons of time into it. It's a sandbox game and it doesn't hold your hand, and that's not for everyone. My other Elite videos might help you get started if you're stuck!

Just bought a Krait Mk2, sold my only other ship to afford it. Had about 2 million left over. Saw a quick and easy mission to make another 2 million bringing in commodities. Got the stuff, put my ship in supercruise assist back to the station, and went to the bathroom for 30 seconds. Came back and I was dead. Can't afford the buyback, no other ships. I had the Krait for 2 full hours now I'm back to a fresh start. RIP Elite Dangerous, time to play something else.

I'm so sorry to hear that! Is it like a beep occasionally, or like a persistent tone? If it's the former it might be my heat sensor in my kitchen, I thought I'd managed to take care of it but it's possible it still made it into the video in places! If it's a persistent sound, I'm not sure what it could be as I can't hear it, maybe the background music? If so I'll keep that in mind for future videos!

For the ground combat zones, when the battle is won you can exit back to menu and log back in. The battle will start again and you can pick a side on the spot, you keep your previous combat bonds as well as the mission payout of 300k credits. By doing this you skip having to travel with the dropship back and forth when starting a new conflict zone and you can increase your profits per hour by a lot. I come back with like 150 million credits every 2 hours or so. Put up some epic battle music on youtube and play. Those combat zones are quite fun and pretty easy to do with absolutely no risks involved! You do not lose anything when you die, you respawn in a dropship and can continue the same battle until you win. The AI itself is not one of the most intelligent ones, but that only makes it easier to earn cash. Remember commanders, lasers for shields and bullets for bodies. Plasma weapons are good for both.
