The section on platform boosting is really great and I'm glad you explained it, but I wish there was a footnote or * that mentions that less than half the cast sees notable gains from both platform boosting and ledgeboosting. For reference, Clairen, Forsburn, Zetterburn, Ori, and most recently with his initial dash buff Kragg get the best platform boosts(roughly in that order too). Some characters have alternative tech like ranno dart boosting or they just generally already have fantastic air movement(all of the air characters).

Are new players expected to be able to count frames? Not a crtiticism, more just surprised. I understand frames but when I'm playing I have 0 ability to tell what frame I'm in during any kind of animation, and if I'm expect to be able to to air dodge by a specific frame, I feel completely screwed :( Maybe this game is just too advanced for me, which sucks because I love the game. Edit: After a bit of practicing on wavelanding, looks like there isn't a need to count frames at all, you just kind of learn the timing based on your character's position. Nice! I was able to waveland pretty consistently after only a few minutes, so this IS a great beginner technic, thanks!!

You didn't explain how to drift DI. DI is so different in this in game than in smash bros for survivability. I need to know.
@newpairofboots3 жыл бұрын
If you haven't figured it out by now, drift DI is holding left or right on the control stick while you're flying through the air. Your initial DI (the direction you hold in the very first frames after getting hit) alters the angle of your launch trajectory. So, as an applied example, a common tactic to survive a strong hit near ledge, while remaining far away enough to not get combo'd further, is to hold up and in on your control stick in the first moment after getting hit, and then once you're flying through the air, holding out (away from your opponent). The holding out would be drift DI, while the initial DI would be the trajectory DI. Hope that helped. I probably didn't explain it that well.

@Dyzz214 жыл бұрын
Great video for most part, but you didn't explain drift DI at the end in any way that made sense at all. To me it just looks like DI out on absa uptilt, and then the next clip is just DI in on absa uptilt but the absa read DI out. What about this DI makes it "drift" and not just a normal mixup? I have played this game enough to have heard that drift DI is just being able to drift some during hitstun, something you can't do in smash. However, in your clips on the topic, you don't drift in either of them! on second look, the first clip it looks like you drift back into absa after DI away, but second clip where you say that you "drifted out of the uptilt"... you don't drift at all. what did you mean?

A tip for you: don’t make a beginners guide then start talking about ‘waveland’ and ‘sharking’ and ‘neutral and punish game’, I don’t know what any of this means
@newpairofboots3 жыл бұрын
Two tips for you: 1. Right after saying "waveland," he further explains by saying "airdodge horizontally." 2. This guide appears to be intended for people new to the game, or people who have just gotten the game. There are in-game tutorials that explain and/or introduce anything FullStream is talking about in this video.
@ravynbunny71933 жыл бұрын
@@newpairofboots I am new to the game and I did the tutorials, then went to see how to actually play the game and this is what I was met with. He explains that you *can* wave land if you dodge sideways on a platform or whatever but not what wavelanding is. If it is that, it wasn’t clear. I was giving them constructive criticism, relax
@newpairofboots3 жыл бұрын
@@ravynbunny7193 If you actually did the tutorials you'd find that wavelanding is defined in the tutorials. Taken from the tutorial: "Wavelanding is when you air dodge into the ground while in the air. It is frequently used to quickly land on platforms. Wavelanding horizontally is also a great way to cover a long distance very quickly. To try out wavelanding, jump through the platform and air dodge onto it once you're above it. Repeat this 3 times."
