Thank you so much this helped a LOT. As a new singer that can’t find a teacher (that isn’t expensive) you’re amazing and super helpful and I’ve actually been able to count beats a lot better as a result to your videos.

Wonderful! Counting beats is a key (and often under-rate or overlooked) part of being consistent in our singing! Great work! Jeff

Are we ideally supposed to run through the beginner playlist once before moving onto your other videos?
@JeffRolka5 жыл бұрын
It's worth exploring! There's no 'master sequence' of the these videos though, so depending on your past training and vowel alignment, you may be able to jump in to the regular warm ups. If you've had little or no formal training, whatever your experience level is, I'd suggest at least having a look through the beginner playlist. It's really more 'fundamental' skills than strictly beginner training. Best, Jeff

Staccato is very good for training pitch, isn't it?
@JeffRolka6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it allows the vocal fold to change shape without the weight of the air column on top of it. This is helpful in finding the optimal adduction for any given note. Jeff

My girlfriend has done chior for 4 years and i occasiouly ask her for singing advice and recently she says that i slide around when i sing like i go up to the note than flat than up to it again and then fall flat how do i combat this

dynamic air pressure exercises would help, and stay in a comfortable range. If you're using my beginner playlist, you're in the right place!

Greetings, Jeff. I have a question pertaining to your preface to this lesson... I have had AN AWEFUL COLD.. almost lost my voice.. I’m not convinced that I am entirely free of its claws. My throat feels stringy.. almost striated. Is it dangerous for me to exercise my voice while I am somewhat vulnerable ? RL

I would be cautious about singing if you nearly lost your voice. Singing too soon could hamper your recovery. General rule of thumb, if you can't phonate over the secondo passaggio, more rest is needed. I hope you feel better soon! Jeff
