Something to note about splatlings is their reliant on range. You'll outrange most weapons you'll play against and that's how you win your fights. Try to keep people at the tip of your effective range. Also note that if you're playing against a weapon such as a charger you'll want to be mindful the chargers location play around it accordingly. Chargers will absolutely bully splatlings as they are an easy barely mobile target while charging.

To people who are just trying out splatlings/long range: don't get too caught up in your losses, you're most likely going to be awkward with your new weapon class, especially if you're very used to playing front-lineish weapons. It's okay! If you genuinely enjoy using the weapon and play more and more matches with it, you're find out that you're improving with it in no time! Try not to feel discouraged if you're not perfect right away :)

I'm new to Splatoon and as soon as I saw the Heavy Splatling in the preview, I was immediately sold. In most other co-op shooters, I often take the role of the anchor if at all possible. Taking a position and holding it with a steel grip is my _thing._ I don't just hold the defense, *I **_AM_** THE DEFENSE.*

Now that I'm playing Splatoon 3, I tried this out and I loved it and I got my 4 star badge yesterday! I'm so happy to share this and awe others! It's a really cool weapon and makes me feel reliable! Good video overall. I would say that You should touch upon what weapon class generally "counters" them when discussing a specific weapon class, giving new players an idea who to look out for when starting a match and seeing the players spawn in. Also Salmon Run is a great way to learn weapon types outside of your comfort zone as you have 4 classes of weapons on rotation for each round of salmon run. Boss salmonids are built to around the strengths and weaknesses of the weapons in splatoon giving you a general idea of what each weapon is good for in a given situation and where they are weak. Forcing you to understand the basics without having enemies that shoot back.
@Dingghis_Khaan2 жыл бұрын
In this case, just working off of my own experience, splatlings are strongest against rollers due to superior range of most splatlings as well as the high visibility and limited maneuverability of most rollers. Even if you're in close range, a splatling user need only to stand their ground and punish the roller for trying to play "chicken" with you. Chargers, on the other hand, can be a splatling's bane, as the superior range and accuracy can make it very difficult to maintain a position without being in their sightline.
@kaeosenpai46012 жыл бұрын
The biggest draw for using the Nautilus over the heavy would be if you're more keen on being aggressive. The ability to hold a charge even while submerged gives you the opportunity to always be ready to fire even while moving about. Just bear in mind that you can only hold a charge for roughly 5-6 seconds. The kit on it so far may not be great for holding choke points, but it is good for exposing enemy location. This allows you to be relentless in your teams pursuit of the enemy.

I would say that the Ballpoint Splatling functions better as a pusher than an anchor. Its short range mode makes fighting up close a ton easier, especially because it can recharge like the Nautilus, and the long range mode works better for pushing back other long range weapons like enemy chargers. Combined with the inkjet to push further and keep away from shorter range players, and fizzy bombs to flush out backliners, its defintely much more aggressive that the average splatling.

Please cover best supportive gear abilities, such as run speed and thermal ink. If a new player gives up the splatling before they try it with thermal ink, it is a tragedy.
@Nytrusdeathcyde2 жыл бұрын
was thermal ink really that good? i remember it being not that good
@H47Ronin2 жыл бұрын
@@Nytrusdeathcyde It was underrated for Blobbober and splatlings. Sometimes your opponents are too cagey to outright splat. Thermal Ink DESTROYS their element of surprise and enables you to switch to area denial mode. It helps teach its user how to play anchor by teaching when to push and when to back of, due to it not working at close range. The icing on the cake is that it enables you to splat campers from behind cover by arching your shots (especially useful against CHARGERS, splatling's bane).

I will say try the nautilus. Its has a longer charge like a heavy splating, and also a quick charge like the mini splating. It even better is its mid charge if you want to add charge to your inking. Also also it can HOLD its charge while in squid form, which if i remember correctly the other splating guns dont have (mini nor heavy) It has a slightly less range than the heavy splating. But its still a formidable range than only snipers might take you out. It has point sensor so you can either help your team spot the enemy when they hide in ink. Or if they rush you down in squid form, they'll lose their element of surprise. I'm a splatter shot main so its not my best weapon but its still fun to use.

I did groan at the Wave Breaker at first but it does help the team locate nearby opponents. I've had those think that they can get the jump on me after my Wave Breaker had marked them.

nice video but the nautilus and mini arent really anchors. The mini plays more like a support or slayer and the nautilus mostly wanst to back up other slayers from behind. These two just dont have the range to play as an anchor and only really thrive when played more agressive then the other splatlings were they can utilize their unique mechanics.

New player here, been playing mostly Heavy Splatling ever since I figured out that Rollers are just not for me. This seems like some really good info to start adding to my arsenal. And, looking back, I have noticed I'm at my most effective when I have good vantage and can kinda just lock an area down. I should really start to lean into that more in my games. By the by, do you have any good tips for playing Nautilus? I'm trying to get good with it, but I'm finding it's a little trickier than I'd anticipated. Though being able to hold a charge in ink has definitely gotten me out of a few bad scrapes before.
@emiliabedelia59822 жыл бұрын
Nautilus takes some getting used to! Since it’s shorter range and more mobile, it puts you closer to enemies-both a pro and a con, of course. You may get targeted more often when first starting out. People love to hate a Nautilus ;). Also, all the splatling style ones had a visible “charge” effect that can give you away if you’re sneaking - try charging behind blocks or corners before you get out there!

hi splatling main here, I'd recommend run speed up because it also increases mobility while strafing during firing, and Ink resistance is good. Bomb defence is also nice bc you can bet you'd be a target of those often when you're perched somewhere high. Termal ink can be nice to scope out enemies you hit but didnt splat, or ninja squid can help a lot in making clean getaways or relocating to a diffrent perch more safely ^^

I think it would be useful to add that not all splatlings fit the backline category and that weapon roles in splatoon can be flexible. For example, Nautilus can store charge in ink making it more mobile plus having the ability to save its charge after firing a couple shots and its quick kill time makes it fit better with the slayer role rather than an anchor. Mini on the other hand usually prefers to play support because of its painting capabilities and poking with burst bomb but it also has slaying capabilities with its mobility and access to ultra stamp. Even Ballpoint being an anchor can flank an enemy team and take aggressive angles with its fast run speed(of course positioning and situation is important if you wanna do that). I think in guides like this you want to categorise which playstyle a weapon in a class gravitate towards since it might create misconceptions of some shortrange playing more like a backline. This is especially important to classes like shooters because of how big and diverse the class is. It's nice to see guides about the game and see new players eager to learn, good luck on the channel.
@HDHaZmY2 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree - maybe I went a bit too much on the Anchor topic, when it's supposed to be more about the Splatling itself. But since the Mini Splatling is short-range I hope most people can judge that it's not a good anchor!
@AssaultTrooper1132 жыл бұрын
Ballpoint is more of a hybrid of an anchor and slayer with it's variable firing mode. It's a splatling that combines the mini and hydra with the refresh charge of the nautalis. You can shift into a role as needed or if someone is pushing your position. The problem with it is that of all the splatlings it is the hardest to master as in addition to it's own quirks, you need to be able to know how to play in two roles and two weapons in order to use it to it's full potential so I wouldn't recommend that new players pick it up. I would generally rank weapon difficulties based on their position in sheldons unlock order as it generally seems to put the more complex weapons farther down the list than the relatively easier ones.
