Let's have an auction where everyone is bidding! What do you need to come into a bridge auction after an opponent has opening the bidding?

Great advice Tina. Been attempting to play this addictive game for about 3 years on and off now. At 72 probably not the best time to start. Anyway will check out your other videos with a view finding out more about when a change of suit is forcing, responders 2nd and openers 2nd bids. Also Stayman, Jacoby, large hands, tactics when using Blackwood and Gerber. I just want to get a good understanding of the basics at this stage of the game. Thanks for the effort you have put into your KZbin channel!! Cheers Rob Leftwich.

Hi Tina, we are learning Bridge in Edinburgh (Scotland!) and find your videos extremely helpful and easy to understand. We have a question around vulnerable and non-vulnerable and hope you can provide some guidance on this? Also, transfers and stayman. Many thanks.

Hi Vulnerability is set for each board. You don’t have a choice as to when you’re vulnerable or not vulnerable. All it does is change the odds. You lose more if you go down and you gain more if you make your contract Heading to the correct level gives you an extra bonus. I can’t tell you about stayman and transfers in a quick email. I promise to do some videos on them soon. Thank you for your comments. It makes it all worthwhile.

Hi Tina, we are just learning Bridge and and your videos are so easy to understand thank you. Lots of other people I have seen teaching Bridge have suggested that to overcall you need at least 7points to overcall at 1 level and 10points to overcall at the 2 level. You don’t mention points apart from overcall 1NT 16-18points. What are your thoughts please?

Hi Chris, thanks for your comments. Those point counts sound about right. I don’t usually talk about points with overcalls as I want to emphasise the importance of good suit quality. If you have a 6-card suit, you need fewer points. Don’t forget that the shape of your hand is as important as your points.
