Thank you for block 4. just finished it. I could not do the stem according to your pattern though. I am trying to get 2 blocks from one background fatquarter and I just could not get 2 six inch blocks. I ended up cutting one 8 inch block, slashing it on the diagonal, inserting the stem and sewing, then trimming to 6.5. worked.

can these blocks be made to be 9 1/2 inch blocks and if so, what would be the measurements to cut the fabrics?

Hi Sherryl! I still don’t see the 6 1/2 inch square of background fabric on which to draw the line from corner to corner. I might be missing something. Please help.

These lrg triangles have allot of waste....after first seam...sew an additional sea 1\2 from that seam on section to be cut off...now when you trim off ...you have ready made additional 1\2 sq triangles for another project...

Hi Ruth. When I make tringles I purposely make the squares larger in the beginning. If you cut the squares to the exact size you need, often the half square triangle comes out uneven. By cutting the squares larger gives me that extra room to cut the half-square triangle to the exact size needed, and it is not lopsided. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
