I put masking tape on the edges of the Aida cloth to keep it from unraveling. Fold it in half lengthwise over the edges of the fabric. Thanks for a great tutorial! I haven’t done CC for a long time. Looking forward to doing a small piece to test the waters.

An easier way to anchor a stitch using 2 threads is to double the thread in half and put the loop through the eye of the needle so it hangs lower than the tail. Go up through the backside, but don’t pull it all the way through. Put your needle back down, forming a half stitch, then put your needle through the loop. Pull taunt.

Hi Cheryl, ( I apologize if I spelled your name wrong. I see it spelled different ways and I would like it if you would correct me if it's spelled wrong.) I won't be offended I promise! I so enjoyed this video on cross stitch. I have attempted cross stitch before and I do really enjoy it, but I wasn't sure if I was doing it right and so I stopped, but after watching you explain, I've decided to go back and try again. You explain things on my level so that I understand. I quilt during the day as much as my body will allow and in the evening is when I like to come to my recliner and hand stitch projects so thank you again and I hope you will have more videos on cross stitch and maybe some needle point? (something else I've never done, but always wanted to learn). God Bless!

At 2:47 you say to prevent freying/unraveling of the Ada to do a "whip stitch" around all 4 edges but you don't say how to do that. Do you have a separate video for that?
@TheSewingRoomChannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi MsLala. Use needle and thread (any color). Tie a knot at the end of the thread. Insert needle on the top side of the aida cloth. Pull thread until the knot touches the fabric. Bring the needle up over the top edge and insert needle through the top again. Keep repeating until the edges are covered. As you are stitching keep the stitches about 1/8" to 1/4" apart. You are "whipping" the thread around the edges. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help. Thanks for watching, and happy new year. 😍

Hi be blessed what can of feet you used for elastic thank you
@TheSewingRoomChannel3 жыл бұрын
Just use a regular presser foot and use a zig zag stitch.
@rosaredondo15983 жыл бұрын
Fabulous!! Do you recommend different sizes of frames for ease of finding the spaces and so forth? Like the example you mentioned but we couldn’t see the stand used?
@TheSewingRoomChannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosa. The hoop size is a personal choice. Use what is comfortable for you. I use a table top stand with scroll bars to attach the Aida cloth. My right hand does not close so that is why I use a table top stand. It is also easier on my neck. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
@PetiteKeyboardist3 жыл бұрын
Instead of a hoop, I use the cardboard rolls from saran wrap or tinfoil. I wrap my cloth like a scroll and use clips to hold it together. I am always handling only the backside of the cloth. Don’t touch the front side...your oils leave it dirty. Hoops stretch put the fabric.

I found that doing cross stitch keeps me from snacking. I wash my hands before embroidering, so if I snack I have to keep washing my hands.
@dale34043 жыл бұрын
I use the scroll-type hoops rather than the round ones.

What needle threader would you recommend
@TheSewingRoomChannel Жыл бұрын
Hi Clarisa. I use the type that have small metal wire in a loop and is attached to plastic. You can get them at Walmart, Joann Fabrics and Crats, etsy.com, amazon. com, and many other fabric and craft stores. Hope this helps. Glad you enjoyed the beginners cross stitch tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happing sewing😍

When using two strands take one strand put it your needle and fold it in half. Your still using two threads.
