Nice video. Shows the difficulty reloading a semi-automatic as some magazines can be extremely hard. Good reason to carry two extra magazines. Be impossible to reload the ammo into the magazine under stress, a place where the revolver can be mastered quickly. Like the Taurus revolver, sometimes a much better buy than a S&W, which has had lots of complaints of poor quality lately. Older models are much better. Another one for choice might be the Taurus Judge, Defender Model as its lighter. Loaded with Hornady Critical Defense .410 ammo, it would be a game ender for bad guys, with similar recoil as the .38 Spc. I would have never thought she would have had that much difficulty with the S&W Shield, as there are tons of people that own them, especially women. Makes me wonder how much they have actually used them vs nightstand or purse carry, especially if you can't reload the magazine! A good thought for a video would be some shooting drills that women or men could use to actually make them more proficient in the firearm useage. Another good video idea would be ammo selections. I know a lot of guns are sensitive to some ammo. I found myself that Remington and UMC are terrible. Winchester white box barely has enough power to blow the slide back on a semi-auto. PMC cartridge is good, but leaves a lot of debris behind in the gun you got to clean. Federal always has been great, until lately when they started having some problems with a few ammo batches. My favorite overall for practice is Sellior & Bellot. Another video idea could be methods of carry, and holsters or belts. I like Relentless Tactical for the economic price and lifetime warranty. For IWB, their Defender model is comfortable, works great and fits a variety of handguns. They also have premium gun belts, even a steel reinforcement belt. A good tip if you don't want to waste a lot of money getting night sights, which can also light up your face like a round green pie plate in darkness, making youself a target, is to go to the bait and tackle store and buy some cheap luminescent lure paint. Little bit of this applied to the front sight, you can charge it up with the flashlight and it's almost as bright as night sights. Happy shooting ❤

My wife and I took CCW class together just after we got married a couple years ago. For the shooting part they handed her a S&W 380 EZ, and handed me a Glock 19. I hadn’t shot a firearm in nearly 40 years. Just trying to get 15 rounds in that Glock magazine had me wondering if I’d ever get the hang of all the stuff going on. In the time since I’ve tried a bunch of different handguns (and watched a bunch of your, and other’s, videos). It’s been a great learning experience and a lot of fun. My EDC now is the Shield 9mm, and she has the 380 EZ (although it would be the 9mm EZ if those existed at the time). Uplula makes loading less painful, although nothing can take away the bite of current ammo cost. And I recently branched into revolvers with the same Taurus she used, as well as a S&W M64 four-inch, which is now one of my favorites to shoot. I can easily say that thanks to videos like those you produce I’m a much better shooter now.

I bought an Uplula a few days after making this video and I hope my daughter in law can now show female viewers how easy it is to load a pistol magazine. Which one out of the 19 and 365 would you recommend for the first time gun owner? Thanks!
@deborahmeyers28152 жыл бұрын
@@Bankchori Actually, you won't go wrong with either one. I'd recommend either renting or borrowing both guns and shooting both to see which one feels best in your hand. The Sig is a sub-compact gun so if you plan to carry it concealed, it's a great choice. It comes with 2 10-round magazines, but you can buy a 12-round magazine. That's what I carry. The Glock is a compact gun, so it's a little bigger and it comes with 15-round magazines.

@@deborahmeyers2815 Thank you for the reply! Looking forward to the trip to the range. I’m just anxious about the recoil!!

@@Bankchori Don't worry about recoil. The more time you spend shooting, the more you will get used to it. If you haven't already gone to a firearms class to learn the fundamentals of shooting, I highly recommend doing that first. In each of the two basic classes I attended, the instructor had several guns that I got a chance to shoot which really gave me the opportunity to get a feel for them. Once you have decided which gun to purchase (actually I recommend buying both the Sig P365 and the Glock 19 Gen 5), you really need to go to the range on a regular basis to practice.

There are only about a bazillion possibilities to choose from and I can't fault a single one of the choices he presented the young lady with. And I certainly can't fault her choices or her reasons. She was most concerned with how each gun felt in her hand and how each of them worked for her. I must confess a slight bias, my EDC gun for many years now has been a S&W 442, so I was glad to see the 642 in the mix. I do believe folks put to much weight on the number of rounds a gun holds, but truthfully i doubt any survivor of a deadly encounter ever thought they had too many rounds available to them. I have always thought a good quality DA revolver is probably the best choice for a new shooter to learn on. I gave each of my 2 oldest granddaughters 13 & 11 years old a 3" S&W model 10 and their baby sister just turned 4, a 3" model 60 Pro Series. But this young lady was looking for a lifesaving tool not a range toy and I believe she made a very thoughtful reasoned choice.

my younger sister started out years ago with a taurus 85 38sp revolver. it is steel, not alloy, with pachmayr grips, thus it absorbs recoil nicely and is simple to operate. she likes it and is good with it. her female colleague recently chose a s&w shield ez 380acp, based on my suggestion as a truly easy pistol to handle. and one of my go to handguns is a ruger sr22. a reliable ten round ammo dump of 22lr minimags into center mass is certain to dissuade a bad guy. plus a 22lr is pleasant to practice with alot.

I think this was a really cool video. It was a cool idea to show the degree of difficulty loading the magazine and racking the slide from someone who hadn’t used the guns before. I wish that was used in more videos because it gives you an idea of what to expect. As someone who has limited use of pistols I didn’t realize the slide would be so different from gun to gun.
@robertkwiatkoski12926 ай бұрын
Sir, maybe you would consider a 1st time video that touches on these things: 1) introduced my girl friend to pistols/revolvers because she is concerned about home defense. A) has been 4 times over a 1 yr period. 1) admitting she won't get to train often. 2) admits she tends to freak out. 3) concerned about safty when the grandkids visit. When we go to the ranges( very beautiful facility in southern n.j.) the instructors are former cops/ military. They scoff at her thinking about a revolver. She has been shooting a ez in 9mil. They don't like the 😊full grip safty. She needs a weapon that is easier to rack. Not all shooters have their degree of firearm training or have "guns" from hrs in the gym. Was your 1st experience shooting 23's as a kid. Revolver for learning manual of arms. I for one think that a 3"-4" 7 shot revolver ( although expensive) would be a great choice for her in 38+ p or 357. Wad cutters, 38 special, +p for learning and home defense. The 1st time I took her and told the clerk at the rental counter she had never fired or even handled a weapon before brought out a Glock 43. Am I nuts, or just old school. The older men that I met when starting my gun journey 20 yrs ago would have recommended a revolver. I for one purchased a 10/22 and went to the range on Sunday mornings. Thoughts please. Thankbyou for your very informative bideos.

I have antique C&R rifles, modern pistols, a shotty and some Saturday Night Specials. I ALWAYS recommend a small revolver for concealed carry for anyone who doesn't frequent the range much. My old boss was a young woman who was just getting into keeping a gun for self defense. She bought a .22LR PPQ and her husband said that it was a ridiculous purchase. She asked me if she should keep it and if it would stop an attacker. I said yes, keep it. I knew A) she would practice often because of the low recoil and cheap ammo. B) She would become familiar and accurate with it quickly. C) She would carry a gun that she was comfortable with and proficient at handling. D) She could easily transition all of those learned habits and skills to a service caliber model later on. E) .22LR is still an effective way of putting holes in things that bleed heavily, and it beats the .380 BodyGuard that sits in her safe because it sucks to shoot that thing for practice and she lacks confidence with it. .22 x 2 is .44. 🤷🏻♂️ Can I place 2 .22LR projectiles accurately for every 1 .45 ACP or .40 S&W/10mm projectile placed accurately? Yeah, that's a safe bet.

Jess has had some shooting experience with a shotgun, a .22 rifle and her husbands Ruger Redhawk .357 magnum revolver, which is probably why she likes revolvers. She is definitely a novice and had never shot any of the handguns shown in this video.

Well, that was a most enlightening video. When I went out to buy my two guns last year, I had been saving up for just a bit over two years to get what I wanted. I knew I wanted and AR-15 and a handgun. It's just that I didn't know what handgun I was going to get. Well, once I had the money, I found that I couldn't find a gun shop anywhere that had anything much to offer, so I became discouraged. Then, one day, I came across the shop in Fenton, Missouri, that I go to now and the first day I was there, he also didn't have much in stock that day, but he promised me that he was getting a shipment in within 2 days. Well, I'd kinda heard this all before, so I was skeptical, but I gave him my e-mail address and lo and behold he e-mailed me on the Friday evening and told me that he had gotten a large shipment of AR-15 in and quite a few hand guns. So, that Saturday I went in and he brought me out the two pieces that he thought I might like. Well, I didn't like the first AR-15 (which was a Smith & Wesson), so he brought out the Ruger 556MPR, which I promptly fell in love with. Then we went through some handguns and my eye kept on falling on the P365, which, as you know I now own. It just felt right in my hand -- like it was made for me. It was just perfect, so those were the two guns that I eventually ended up buying. I am not surprised that Jess chose the P365 from all those guns you had. As you yourself know, it is a fantastic little gun.....except for a little rust problem that cropped up on it a short while later. But anyway, he had that problem sorted out for me too. So, that was my journey into becoming a new gun owner at my age. Jess is fortunate in having you for a teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her go through all the guns you had on offer .... and I was more than a little envious. There is more than one reason why I enjoy your videos so much. You obviously love what you do. (^_^) It snowed here in Saint Louis today......... but it's all melted already. Take care now. Kind regards. Liz.

Yes indeed, I certainly love what I do and I've been shooting, competing, and reloading my own ammo since the early 1970's and I love passing on my knowledge to those who want to learn. Funny you should mention your AR-15. Jess and I were talking today about making a "Woman's Guide to the AR-15 Rifle" video. Hopefully we can make it happen sometime in the near future. No snow here in southern Nevada...our temperature was 78 degrees today. Take care Liz

I tried a J-frame, and hated it. I'm not a wuss by any means, but my hand was sore the next day. It also made me flinch a lot, so accuracy was nonexistent.

Hey Mixup98 --- My girlfriend (of 15 + yrs) and I got into shooting together about 8-ish years ago. Pistol-wise we started out with 9mm's, then on to 40S&W's. Long story short, she ended up with her 'favorite' pistol to shoot being an H&K VP40/40S&W, but she carries an M&P Shield 9mm/1.0 version. I prefer the 9mm's, and I absolutely love the Glock 19 model, but she likes the 40's most of all. I'm sure glad she's on my side, because she's a natural at shooting pistols, as a lot of women who I've seen shoot are. ----- Great video, and I'll catch you on the next one. I hope you & your family are doing well, amidst the Masked & Vaccinated Propagandized Zombie Apocalypse that is unfolding in our 'not so free anymore' Country. Be well, & Be prepared. --- Jason/Vermont, USA

Excellent advice to a new shooter! That's why I love your channel. You are the real deal and you know what you are talking about! I know you can't have every gun available for your Daughter In Law to try out, but you did have a large assortment of all kinds of handguns. Great job! One I would also highly recommend is the Kahr CW9. Light. Striker fired with a long trigger similar to a double action revolver. Made in the USA. I love Kahr pistols. Lots of bang for the buck in the CW series. Check them out.

It would be interesting to do a follow up after she has cleaned each weapon after firing. She might find the revolver easier to clean than the semi auto, or vice versa.
@QQL33 жыл бұрын
Excellent video, and a good topic to cover. Notice that she selected the last two pistols she fired as her choices. Could that be influenced by the fact that her comfort level might have increased as she tried the pistols out? (Not really looking for an answer -- just a rhetorical observation.) The Sig P365 is a popular carry handgun for both women and men. Thank you.
@mixup983 жыл бұрын
Perhaps she was influenced by shooting the last two firearms she picked but I also found it interesting that she chose not only the most expensive firearm (the Sig) but also the least expensive firearm ( Taurus).

I have always have a revolver. Got rid of my SEMI auto pistols because of health reasons and grip holds on slide. I have had lots of trouble with my SEMI autos so I got rid of them and bought revolvers from .22 all the way to .357 magnum. Griping and racking the slide is to hard for me. That is why I switched to revolvers. Even got a S&W J.M .45revolver. I shoot auto RIM and use HKS SPEED LOADERS.
