A tip from a T-1 player, focus on getting your "Long Distance" and "High Value Cargo" stats up. I personally suggest switching between the two as you level. Follow the stats I mentioned with "Fuel Economy" go save more money in the long run, and set all AI drivers to "High Value Cargo" as your hire 'em. This will get you the most money quickly.

5:25 you can also set it to 'Price per distance' so that it shows the maximum price you're earning per mile, I feel like I end up earning more when it's set that way.

This is the best tutorial on getting started in this game I've watched yet. Super great job in covering a lot of the general and basics on ATS. I just got this the other day and I love it already and this has helped me get up to speed.

One thing. The baking intensity shouldn't really be lower than 75%. While the effect is more realistic at 50% coming from a high speed, at low speeds the brakes are far too underpowered. Same deal with the stability. If you're not running physics mod I'd put Truck Stability at 10 and trailer at 25. This translates as close to IRL to me. Also, if you're on a wheel, set your Linearity to 0.37-0.38. Then you can adjust the wheel range in the gameplay section to make the on screen wheel match. This is much closer to how it should feel IRL. If you really want to go the extra mile, grab the Frkn Physics mod, the MOMO & YUNA steering mod, and real mirror FOV off of the workshop. It'll completely revolutionize how you play, and it's the closest I've gotten ATS to feeling like the real thing. It actually beats out BeamNG with these mods IMO. Then go ahead and set the stabilities down to 0 and your braking intensity to 75-100. This setup to me is about as real as I've ever felt in a game. For extra immersion, I set the FOV to 80 and adjust the seat (there's a few mods for unlimited seat range, and default 80 fov), and max out the horizon locking in the gameplay settings. It really conveys that feeling of torque you get in a real truck. Not so noticable in the 579 or T680, or their adjacent mod trucks, but in the Freightliners and Western Stars, it feels spot on. The way it jolts torque through the chassis in automatic when it shifts etc. This is what I recommend as a real trucker if you're going for maximum realism. Also, you can disable fatigue simulation and use the console to advance time to when you'd have planned to be rolling the next day. IRL I always ended up taking 9 or 8 hour breaks instead of 10's, and being ready to pretrip right when my clock reset. Also gives you to roleplay unique parking options. IRL I've ended up sleeping at Walmarts, abandoned businesses, shopping centers, customers and all sorts of odd places. Could be fun to do the same instead of following the games strict truckstops and rest areas thing. I WISH it were that simple IRL lol.

One other thing (which I saw in another video), apparently you can make money a bit quicker by taking the maximum loan ASAP then going to the used truck market and buying the cheapest truck available. This should provide you cash to upgrade the truck and pay fines etc until you’re up and running. Tbh, I’ve not tried this myself but I’m about to get into ATS after playing ETS2 for over 1000 hours so it’ll be interesting to see if it works.

I just started playing this game and am enjoying your videos. I still can't decide which mode to play, career or creative. Probably try both. Thanks for the informative videos!
@ryanlawrence176411 ай бұрын
Aye what you mean creative?
@kdxfile897211 ай бұрын
To me, creative would mean using mods to get levels and unlimited money as opposed to career grinding up the regular way the game was designed.@@ryanlawrence1764

I'd say its probably better to sort job by highest price per distance/mile. That way, regardless of distance and load type, you're getting the best value for your time. Biggest drag for me is having to have such high of xp to get any truck with a full sized sleeper (top package). In real life, xp (experience) doesn't affect what truck you can buy. So probably best to use that xp cheat...and if you can customize the amount of xp without too much money, thats what I'd do...and then turn it off after you get the truck you want.

I can’t believe I waited this long to get into the truck Simulator . I’m glad I stumbled across your video. I’m also using it in VR with a lovely Pimax Crystal and a Motion platform. My question is I want to use the joystick and buttons on my steering wheel, especially the cursor for the mouse is there a way I can change that to use my joystick instead of the mouse cursor to move around the menu and also select using the joystick button. Thanks for any info.

Thanks! I appreciate the support. You can map a button to zoom the interior camera. I use one of my extra mouse buttons. I realized in editing that some of my extra control/button mappings carried across from my main save game to the tutorial save.

Funny. As a real trucker I do the opposite. I mod the game for realistic physics and whatnot, and I enjoy building up from nothing. But I always turn off fatigue simulation and if I don't want to truck at night or only at night or whatever I'm feeling that day, I'll use the console to advance time. I'll park up at places I would IRL. Walmarts, businesses, truckstops, etc.

Stocktown!? 🫢😂 The Diaz brothers would probably give you a Stockton slap for pronunciation like that 😂 👋🏻 Great video dude, this is incredibly helpful! 😁❤️👍🏻 For context, the Diaz brothers, Nick and Nate, are two mma fighters from Stockton . Both have fought at the highest level in the ufc and are legends in the sport! They have a habit of slapping people during fights just to taunt their opponents. Which ended up getting the nickname of the Stockton slap.
