If you are somebody like me who just enjoys story mode for games and isn't very interested in dealing with other players then I highly recommend playing on single player. It has several perks over multiplayer. The main one is that you don't have to play the game like a second job on single player as the world only progresses while you are actually logged on. So you don't have to worry about your dinos starving to death or your generators running out of gas if you decide to take a long break as everything will be exactly as you left it when you log back in. The second perk is that you have essentially absolute freedom in how you want your ark experience to be. You can customize the settings for basically everything from how much stuff you gather to how much damage you and your dinos do and take. This is excellent for people who want to still have a challenge while not having things take ages to get done. Such as increasing the breeding speed so you can get to the boss battles quicker. Some cons to single player are that it requires regular maintenance at times to fix issues that arise such as your dinos sometimes clipping into terrain which usually requires using admins commands to resolve. You also need to periodically perform dino wipes to make some of the more exotic dinos such as gigas respawn as in my experience they never will unless that command is used. (Don't worry. Using admin commands doesn't disable achievements, so you can still get 100% if you have to use some at one point to fix an issue. Just have some self control and only use them if you absolutely must.)

@allstar7778 what does non dedicated allow you to do that single player cannot? As far as I'm aware non dedicated works exactly the same as single player. World events only happen in proximity to the host. It's why the tether is even a thing. Admin commands still work the same, and world settings still carry over. So what more can you do there vs single player besides having your friends tag along?

I have watched so many guides and this one is like 8 guides in one. Very clear and concise! You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. One thing I never grasped the concept of was to breed more animals amd leave some at the base to make more if they die. Also knocking out raptors with fists?! I had no idea it was that easy I've been trying to set bear traps or Bola them but they are so quick its difficult.

Im no where near a pro player but you leave dinos at your base to defend your base. And a raptor isnt hard to kill if you have a hard time with them i wouldnt imagine how u must feel after encountering a thylacoleo that jumps from a tree so u get smacked of your flying dino. But the worst things in the game right now to encounter is a rhyniognatha it scared the shit out of me when i first saw it pop up just behind my PT and then i died and my pt to

PvP sucks tbh, yeah it’s fun but, once you go offline … I remember having rafts in evolved and pushing them trough the wall with all my stuff and then killing myself before leaving the server to avoid the guys flying with parasaurs 😂

ARK is an amazing game just has bugs that the devs won’t fix. If you’re looking to only play a few hours a day PVE is the way to go. You can try a server or single player and it’s overall a very fun experience

so basically play this game solo or pve, as pvp just gives you *terrible disease here" , and yes i always play Solo , and yes it is enjoyable might someone ask if multiplayer is a need for this. nope solo works, i do suggest to set your multipliers a bit more easier, as if playing alone you need to gather everything no team mates that work as your material collecting slave :)
