As Salam alaykum brother. I am a revert myself (took shahada myself in August). Two questions, when I enter prayer hall can I pray Tahiyat Al Masjid anywhere? Or does it have to be right up the front? Also, I heard that the front row is usually for very pious or more regular Muslims who come, so I’m worried that if not many people have arrived yet should I place my mat down on front row? Last question, sometimes I see photos of Muslims sitting down at the sides of the prayer hall reading or on their phone?? I’m confused, is it allowed to just hang out in the prayer hall like this? Sorry for all the questions but really appreciate if you could answer. I’ve gone to go to the masjid twice now but each time I am outside I don’t have the courage to go in and then I feel depressed the rest of the day because I didn’t go in. Worried about sticking out (as a white person) or making a mistake…I don’t like a lot of attention 🤣

As salaam alaikum with the permission of My brother, Yes you can pray Tahiyat Al Masjid anywhere you want. Except at Friday Prayer recommended to be closer to the front when there's a space of course. There is no such rules in the house of Allah that the first row is for a special people. Expect in The month of Ramadan preferred who ever close to the Imam someone who memorise the book helping Imam in case forgot or make mistake to recorect him. Salaam

Hello, I hope by now you have went. Today was my first day, I am white. I went with a friend so that made it a lot easier so our situations maybe might not be the same but I still had some anxiety so I hope it helps someone reading this at any point. I felt like maybe I got a few looks when I went to do wudu but I am new they never seen me before, as I did it I didn’t feel any weird looks or anything. Islam isn’t a race, my Masjid is all different types of races. I was towards the middle back, I felt like I blended in fine. At my Masjid there are so many people, maybe it is harder for smaller ones but I hope sharing my experience helps.

Hey, thank you for this Video. I have made my way to islam very good so far by learning the prayer and more about islam. But i havent prayed in a masjid yet. I have no one to bring who could Tell how everything Works. For Example do i pray the regular amount of rakat like 4 when its time for dhuhr or do i pray 2 rakats because im not at home. And if im finished with my prayer can i stay where i prayed to read quran and wait for the next prayer or is it not allowed to wait there. Thanks
@thinkrevert2 жыл бұрын
You follow the leader of the prayer, all the prayers are the same as you would pray at home, in terms of how many units. Yes there is normally no restrictions to sit and read the Quran as you like. Some mosques do close during certain times as they many not have someone who works there full time. They would inform you of this, if they needed to close and saw you were sitting and reading. One tricky thing is if you join the prayer late and you’ve missed some units of prayer. It’s hard for me to explain so I recommend asking the imaam.

So I’m 18 years old, and have been raised Christian growing up. I have been going to Christian churches basically my whole life. But I could never fully believe in the religion of christianity. It’s just too hard to understand, and when I ask questions about stuff they just tell me to have faith. I really want to learn more about Islam because I think that they truly worship god. And plus I’ve witnessed so much bad stuff go on in the churches I used to go to. From pastors stealing the churches money for their own benefit, to women being sexually abused by the pastor. I’ve even went to party’s where I was served alcohol underage and allot of the people was from my church that was doing this, and I didn’t even know they did that stuff because they acted so different when they went to church. I have a local mosque where I can go to but I don’t know much about Islam and I feel I would accidentally disrespect them. Anyone have tips of what I should do? Should I just go and talk to the people over there?

You can email or message me on instagram and we can talk more if you like. It will be easier to give you advice. Yes you can just turn up to a mosque and ask for guidance (in theory - I guess it depends on the mosque and who you meet of course). But the most important thing is to ask Allah to guide you, sincerely. Pray to him as much as you can and beg him to guide you to the truth, put your trust in God alone, first and foremost.

@thinkrevert Жыл бұрын
Generally most mosques pray 5 times per day. If you check in the video at 5:45 it explains how you may find the timetables near the entrance of the mosque. But normally, you can search online - either on the mosque’s website or Facebook page and you can find the timetable for the month there. Hope this helps
