Im f2p and I managed to get one tier 5, one tier 4 and 4 tier 3s for free, got choppys by pre ordering a bunch when they were on sale and got fortunate enough to get like 3-4 cant remember, also managed to get a flute recently after 3 months so theres that

I don't know if my game is bugged or what, but my pets don't even have levels. Above their Tiers, there is no level indicated unlike in this video...

since you can buy pets off the market from the whales dumping them for money i would say its just a little pay to win but you can totally get a functional set for grinding without spending money. The only pet i have purchased was the hedgehog for life skilling and a few random ones i thought were super cute. all other pets i have gotten from give away from BDO and the market.
