Thank you. I have watched countless videos for casting on and I just could not get comfortable. I am a long-time crocheter trying to knit so my hands aren't wanting to move the way they should. Many videos people move way too fast because the motions are so fluid for them. Your method is taught at the perfect pace with very clear explanations. This will be the method I now use!

Omg! the Continental way was so confusing when it came to using needles ( for some reason I can do it just fine when I'm arm knitting, just can't convert to needles..) but your preferred way was so easy to understand! was so simple and easy not any more difficult than knitting off of my thumb. And your voice is so soothing not grating like a lot of others that do tutorials!

The way your nails perfectly match the yarn though! So pretty! The tutorial is great, but the nails + yarn color match is just fantastic, I’ve never seen anyone do that in a knitting video before (whether it was intentional or not).♥️

Craziest thing my mom passed and I vaguely remembered her teaching me young the second style you taught (she always called it the lazy mans way lol) but I am quarter way through making scarf ahh and I didn't do the second part adding the yarn over the loop...I believe by looking that must knot the end?

I too, can’t understand why you can’t reverse this, use a short tail and take from the ball for the stitches. My worry is I’ll have too little on my long tail, not too much. But I’ll say your description is excellent! I watched my mother in law use this method (with the diamond) for years. Recently decided to try my hand at knitting and wished I had taken more care learning her technique. You’ve aced it for me...Thanks!

When I cast on with one needle, the tension can be too tight and the edge or the first row is too narrow. However casting with 2 needles will make the first row too loose. Any suggestions?
@libbyworkman3459 Жыл бұрын
@I Kozden. The usual advice is to use a larger size needle to cast on. That is what I do. This cast on has a really beautiful edge. I am planning to work on both ways to see which works better for me.
@Catra74 жыл бұрын
I'm a lefty and use your second method but instead of using my left thumb, I use the other needle to place the loop then knit it off. It seems easier to control the stitch tension as they're cast on.
@TheCastingOnCouch4 жыл бұрын
Catra7 I might have to try that myself!

im understanding the concept but am depleting the length of my tail and not from the ball. is this normal? ive even gone against your word (dont be mad!) and switched the tail and the ball-end of the yarn to deplete from the ball end instead, but to no avail. a slight clarification will help :) cheers xx
@TheCastingOnCouch6 жыл бұрын
If you have too much tail after casting on, trim the excess. Better to have too much tail than not enough!
@TheEarthCamper6 жыл бұрын
The Casting On Couch totally got it! I’m knitting mittens with three needles currently :) thank you so much! I’ve always cast in another way having done scarves and hats with a seam for about 12 years in between crocheting, but this cast on just upped my game :) wahoo!
