for me at my high school, we have turpenoid (different from turpentine? im not very educated on that sort of matter), a small baby food jar for that, Blick paints, and a palette, and thats pretty much it. I use the same brushes for both acrylic and oil work, so i dont buy separate sets or anything (just wash as best i can), and my palette is a rectangular metal dish with some tin foil in it. I think it would work fine just to scrape the palette after you're done with it with maybe a glass scraper or something similar instead of the tinfoil to be less wasteful, but thats what i use! i will say that i like acrylics better for my way of painting, because i rework certain parts lots of times, so the fast-drying quality of acrylic works better for that so i can paint over things. of course, if you end up getting some early oil supplies and hating it, it would maybe suck to have put money into that, but oftentimes theres small tester colors of paints AND you dont NEED turpentine/oid because you can just diligently wash your brushes with brush cleaner or maybe bar soap until youre sure you like the medium. I hate to bombard you with a terribly long comment like this, but the joys of art and painting are so vast that i think it would be worth a try!

I've started with a galkyd medium, gamsol, paint, and canvas board. Starting out with oil paints gets pretty expensive. I think all you need are these few things and buy the rest of the stuff over time. You really dont even need the galkyd. But if you want your paint to dry faster then you need it. My palette is a glass cutting board from the dollar tree. If you dont have a palette knife you can cut a credit card up and use that.

I've been using WN Artisan water mixable oils. I don't mix it with water when painting (but supposedly you can) but clean up is so much easier (and less hazardous) with soap and water. WN Artisan also has a soap and water cleanup thinner, linseed oil, and fast dry medium. Other companies have similar lines of product. Some purists refuse to use them, but I want easier cleanup and safety (both health exposure and fire safety as in the winter I have an open flame heater in the room with me.)
