Defiantly keep those attack runs short. Approach so that your hidden until you get your first kill. Have an evasive exit with the expectation that tanks will try to shoot your esf. Plan an escape route before you need an escape route! The player echo also means that you can be shot by a tank THEN see the tank turret spin toward you. I'm a big fan of marker implant banshee, it allows for tracking targets as they move under trees and allies focus fire when you highlight a half dozen enemy doritos giving you multiple spot assists and kill assists simultaneously.

Everytime I try to fly an esf, I get instantly killed by like 10 lock-ons and 3 ace pilots...also a couple random infantry...

worst thing about pulling any ESF is you won't last 2 minutes without getting ganked by skyknights.

xflamousz i have good situational awareness, all that does is allow me to know where the skyknight is. its hard to learn how to play an ESF when you can't stay in the air longer than 2 minutes before getting ganked by someone who spends all of his spare time in an ESF ganking people.

Hm well i didnt play the past 6 months as i am abroad. Before i left i was a pretty decent pilot id say i wasnt in the Top pilots of miller but close. I spend about 40% of my playtime flying 80% of that a2a. I think Its more about learning to predict where you can farm and where you cant. You want to be close to a friendly aa or friendly air, otherwise Its just luck to not get cought. Also 48+ fights are a bad idea. Honestly i find aa more anoying than enemy air. I guess that comes with the exp. As a pilot hunting other esfs. You want to be where the Hunter does not want to go

If this is a beginners tutorial then equipping and sustaining a Safe Landing 4 implant is simply not a realistic option. Newer/lesser players enjoy probably better survivability and more uptime when investing a few cert tiers into Nanite Auto Repair and using Light Assault instead.

+Cao Hummel Even then, Safe Landing 4 is still a pretty expensive implant to not only obtain but especially to maintain. Which means this load-out is only suited to very experienced players with a good SPM, or to whales who have no idea what to do with their money.

Cao Hummel Manual reps does indeed make more sense in A2G compared to A2A. But for that you need to learn to get out of harms way on time & quickly and to do safe instant crash landings with your burning ESF, which takes quite some time to master.

Wait since the Hornet missiles follow where your looking you can essentially use them as TOW missiles and fire from a different angle and use the free look to your advantage

Safe Landing 4 implant ...i have played this game for a very very long time and even i still haven't got a Safe Landing 4 this is unobtainable for a newer /starting player and thermals got changed to threat detection now so its pretty pointless to use coz it only lights up vehicles now and not infantry

Hey Renzor, this is a really nice tutorial but the moment at 3:45 where you're shooting the tank should'nt be on it. You flyed to low and it's very risky. You find a bad tanker, luck was with you, but if the guy has normal skill, turn his canon and shoot you will be as easy as pie ! I recommend more to harass tank by high altitude to avoid bad surprise !

If you're good, you can dodge lock ons midair. upto 9 back to back Is my record, the last 3/12 killed me. FYI you never ever want to land to repair, while that's happening you are vunerable to any armour, libs, gals, ESF, snipers, heavies that come about. it's far more effective to just always have either fire suppression nanite auto repair or both. as for the stealth tactic. I'd recommend faking them out by flying in backwards, aiming down, claiming a few victims, and afterburn out in a different direction. PS VS get no love. and PPA actually feels quite bad for me, I recommend Dual Photon Pods and your chosen nose gun. they are broken as hell

+Mallchad About 2 years ago there was a glitch where you could dodge them midair by hitting throttle analog, holding descend, and tilting back and to the side as it came over. But now I only very very rarely get a break lock in midair -- usually I have to use terrain. Care to explain how you go about this, since it would be quite useful to me? :D PS. If you're talking about Swarms, then I'm not so interested, since I just laugh when I see that's what's coming at me.

+Mallchad i would not stir the pot on the issue of PPA. many many people could argue that they are to good. yes in the air to air aspect they are not that good but i believe none of the three should be effective, its just not their role.

RedLlamaAgain Not break lock ons, if you turn very hard and afterburn when the rocket is very close to you it will miss and come back around and try again. do it consecutively and they run out of range and just die. swarms annihilators and otherwise alike. it's harder with swarm though, you have to dodge a lot more in a short space of time

WorstPilotEU As long as the pilot is semi-decent, simply shooting at it without two lockons or 3 burster maxes, will not do enough. Of course, the standard dumbfire rockets work fine for those idiotic pilots that hover completly still outside the spawn room.
