For those of you whining that he’s using a flatpick: The principle is the same, and for you to go from zero to the exact Maybelle technique AND on top of that get a good tone with your nail is much harder than learning the basic principle with a flatpick, and the flatpick will sound richer. One step at a time!

This is not standard carter picking she mainly used her thumb and finger with fingerpicks, later on she flatpicked a few tunes certainly not wildwood flower

Among Bluegrass and folk players Carter picking has morphed into this as a basis for lead rhythm.

It’s still not true carter family style it may be influenced by her style which yes is very common now her style has a completely different feel even when she later used a flatpick

@@dond8079 Don- The point is that Maybelle Carter used a thumpick and fingerpicks, not a flatpick, so @keeppicking cannot claim that flatpicking is Carter picking, even if it is bluegrass. If you don't get it, check the link that I have already posted.

Ned Lambton No, The point is that Carter style is the melody played on the base strings and a very simple rhythm played on the treble strings. More importantly that KeepPicking put together a very well thought-out series to help us learn about this it. You have put out absolutely nothing. NOTHING. So link to your work or shut up.
