I'm so tired of net positive rocks =3= Not for being bad or anything, but for just how much of a barrier to entry they make the format. (Pardon the ranting and raving, I've felt this built up the past couple of years and really just needed to vent my frustration) A sweet of cards I can only ever dream would be printed into the ground. As is, it's felt like I'll never be able to feel what it's like to play an efficient deck. (As someone who isn't able to proxy) These cards make or break so many other more "budget" looking cards that you otherwise wouldn't have realized until trying to actually play them. Which honestly feels like anything higher then 2 cmc. When it was first printed, Razaketh looked extremely promising for someone who didn't, and still doesn't, own any of the main black tutors. But the combo requires net positive rocks which ultimately hide just how much it really cost to use. I've tried building into so many different "budget' decks, but each one has ended feeling majorly hindered and or completely unviable without these cards. I've also consistently struggled to even get enough playable cards, always running into needing +18 more cards to make a deck playable. It's extremely infuriating feeling like there's absolutely no knowledge to help explain how or what to use in order to still feel like you can compete. Attempted commanders: korvold, kess, innalla, evelyn, Kennan, codie, shark/brall, thrasios/vial, tasigur, tayam, vadrok, Rashmi, derevi Kennan so far has felt like the only commander that's genuinely viable for someone who isn't willing to spend $30+ on any one card. But even then, the viability of the net positive rocks worm their ugly head whenever cards like hullbreaker or isochron scepter gets involved.

I feel your pain that’s in your art why this channel exists is for folks who can’t afford things like mana crypt and mox diamond. Playing on line is an option since most online play groups proxy just as an fyi

@@R3tro_Memori3s I’ve tried building both Derevi and Tayam midrange stax. Though sadly both fell into the same trap of either feeling too slow without net positive rocks, or the investment is just too high to pivot into the stupidly expensive white/green stax, card advantage and tutor pieces. From what I could scrape together, they also felt really frustrating to play since most games devolved unless I was fortunate enough to open with a hand of card advantage, stax, interaction, and ramp. Otherwise games quickly felt like I was twiddling my thumbs hoping and wishing to top deck the aforementioned.

The idea of a money gate is the reason so many good players do not play competitions and that is where your real money is made. Games that promote tournament friendly play are going to make way more money and stick around much longer due to the audience. in MTG's case they have the nostalgia at their backs but that will only carry them so far with new players and the game will eventually fade out if they do not make it easier for entry play. (Sanctioned proxies, printing cards with horrid price tags in every special set until they are dirt cheap) The issue is even though WOTC says they do not control the secondary market and that they have no say in it (this is the reason they dont set official prices just MSRP) they do in fact make money from the secondary market and they see their card collecting game as a stock market (players buy low and sell high to make money) This alone is what keeps the game going, an investment strategy from veteran players or investors who will constantly buy into the game for potential profits down the road. Because of this they design their game around this and this alone. You could argue they design each set for standard or modern but they only do so to keep investors happy and the premium price tag on some cards to enjoy your favorite formats is just another reason the investments are safer feeling. Keep this in mind when playing magic, it is not a card game meant to be played, it is a collecting card game meant to be bought and sold. The fact the game has its own set of rules is merely there to keep the game unique from other collectible card companies.

@@GodammitNappa The stock aspect is absolutely a huge aspect of the games that’s being forced into its soul. Though it’s an aspect of the game I’ve always spit at ever since Kaladesh, I want to play a game, not a stock market. But you’re absolutely right about the game being grossly paraded about by its secondary market.

Well the content on this channel spans everything from precon upgrades, to $100 deck techs to new player educational material with several live brews of budgeted cedh decks. This series is more for new players on a proxy meta. Or players wanting to learn what the core strategy of decks are so then can budgetize them better.

excuse me? koma? jin jitaxian? .. i play the deck in real life and koma together with toxrill are like what you want always win the games 80% of the games ... and jin in a format full of artifacts it seems crazy to me not to play it also because double yours .. two crypts you know? besides the fact that I do not see entomb and reanimini ... that is, like the strongest play of the earth type dark ritual entomb for oracle reanimate for oracle on the tigger of oracle consulto demoiaco .. win turn 1 .. you can't do it but also a play simpler where you revive koma of a second does not exist in your deck ... as if then the oppo looks at you and even if you do toxrill or whoever it is does not remove it? I animate the dead or revive them I play them together with entomb ... only kinnan surprises me .. for the rest more than a deck of cedh it looks like a deck where there is a show of money ..

Um the curator of the list featured in the video plays Tasigur almost exclusively. The configuration they use currently works for there meta which is mainly the subreddit discord. If you would like to engage with them in deeper discourse about there list I’d encourage you to reach out to them personally. This video is meant to be an introduction for new players and I know this list is effective to that extent.
