Lovely artwork... What’s the difference between dyes and silk paint? Are the techniques the same?

Hi Lorraine, the dyes are more liquid and are set differently than with silk paint. The silk paint appears more opaque with a different flow. How did you make your stretcher frame?

My husband fashioned it with PVC pipe. This makes it adjustable for different sizes. I use hooks attached to rubber bands to stretch the silk on the frame.

Which paint u have used for outlining in the last?

I used black dye with a fine brush. There are other tools that will keep the dye from bleeding.

What steam after painting?

To set the dye into the silk, the painted silk is placed in a steamer fir 2-3 hours. There are several types of steaming methods that can be used. Which to use depends on the project.
