Brij Saab, She is what She Is!!!! In her own world. Our Marathi writer Shri. P.L. Deshpande has written beautiful article on Her. Begumsahiba was very fond of singer Vasantrao Deshpande. In military service Deshapande was transferred to Asam. She sent fake telegram to military office and arranged his transfer to Pune. Great prank... unparellaed like Her. Dr. shekhar Paranjpe.

My dad and Begham ji were friends. My dad used to work at indian airlines and support her in all her domestic plans. He often tells me the instances of their meetings. He says that this was one of the ghazal he performed at her last concert. He often shares his memories from numerous times they used to meet at hotels in New Delhi and he would visit the rehearsals for concerts at fikki auditorium and taal Katora. I gre up listening to her ❤❤❤

Although almost every singer has tried Ghazal singing but no one can even come close to Begum Akhtar Faizabadi unique style and sweet voice which no one else has, not even K L Saigal. God just made one Akhtari Begum and through away the 'mold'. A gift for classis music lovers specially in the subcontinent.

Khan sahib u r right but Plz don't forget Mehdi Hasan .He has set milestone for ghazals to extent that even in next century nobody will be able to change to his style. I would say Mehdi Hasan and Begum akhtar sahib are icons in ghazal history & have set milestones.

this is a slightly different bandish from the one she recorded later. but it is very nice, indeed. certain places (iraade) are swweeter in this...and some in the other one. my father knew her...and we heard her live at gatherings...sitting a couple of feet away. whenever i meet the queen of ghazals again, i will request her to combine or fuse the 2 compositions. wow! that will be something else...
