My guess as to why the behemoths need to die is that they have some part of the curse in them, which is why the black tendrils appear when they die. You COULD try going straight to the real source of the curse in the Hollow, but the curse would still be around until all three behemoths died anyway. Also, I'd like to mention: There ARE more than three behemoths in the world, like the fish that shows up after you kill Shacklehide. It's just that Shacklehide, Nightscraper, and Dreddstag were all previously controlled by Ragnar with the curse, which is why they need to be killed. The cursed behemoths are tied to 'rot barriers' around the entrance to the Hollow in the castle, made by Ragnar. In order to get to the Hollow to end the curse, the behemoths had to die so the barriers would fall. Another thing, it's never really explained why Wren is special and gets strengthened by the curse, out of every other heir before them. There is a prequel comic to this game, so maybe it's explained there, but it's never told in-game. Just that Wren has a certain "fire".

I think the most impressive part of this game so far isn't all the huge flashy stuff, but instead the moment where Wolf is running at an archer, sword in hand, and interrupts a shot by thrusting his left hand forward, firing the grapple, and pulling the archer off-balance. It's incredibly mundane, but from a _controls_ point of view, it's incredible that such a motion would become natural. If I think of the Shadows of Mordor games, you get a bunch of AoE attacks that, frankly, I never got the hang of using smoothly in combat and typically forgot existed. But here, the grapple is so thoroughly integrated that without even thinking about it it's as natural as breathing. Not just that one archer here, but a lot of 'oh no I'm falling YOINK nailed the grapple point and saved myself', _that's Wolf aiming his entire arm at a really small, precise target, while moving._ Even if we allow for some measure of auto-aim on those, the fact that it's built-in to feel so natural and easy is impressive from a technical point of view. I can't _wait_ until I'm knocking stuff off my desk with a bling swing of my arm while I'm too close to furniture with this game.

I loved Dredstagg as well! I didn't want to kill him! I would've freed him from his shackles and become his friend. But the platforming was so ass for me. I died soooo many times over and over. And since it was just climbing without any threat or enemies or attacks really, it was kinda lame ngl

Just something I noticed about your attempts to parry, you try to swing at the sword when you should be holding your weapon in the path of their swings. That's like trying to shoot a bullet out of the air, and is why you keep missing parries.
