The accompanying book, My Confessional, is available to order on my store, as well as on Amazon along with a Kindle version: lnk.to/Janet-D...
I was recently in A&B Studios recording a string arrangement so couldn’t miss an opportunity to record a version of this rock anthem. Although I love the Limp Bizkit version, I am still blown away by this track written by The Who, one of my all-time favourite bands. There’s such a depth and backstory to this song, I just love it.
Thank you so much for watching; if you enjoy it please share it, sharing is caring!

Wow. Well done. Even though I have brown eyes, I suddenly realize that "blue" is not referring to color but to sadness. This is the best version of this I have ever heard ... and it stopped me in my tracks.

Quite an unknown fact - my dad actually was the man 'Behind Blue Eyes'!! The Who came to Brighton many years ago and stayed with my dad and his housemate, who was their 'minder'. They started writing it there and then having met my dad - ex-military, lost his family and was trying to build his life again from scratch as a bouncer. He still has the most piercing blue eyes, and incredible tales and stories.
@thehellhound8582

Story checks out, however there is no guarantee that it was your dad specifically. I don't want to call you a liar, but it is a fact anyone can google.

Not true. The song was writen as a part of "Lifehouse" project, a failed rock opera which Townshend was writting after "Tommy". The song is about the villiain of the story, i dont quite remember the story but i'm pretty sure that your story is a lie
@vickymcdonald3167
@vickymcdonald3167 3 ай бұрын
@pieter5237 cool story bro.... you weren't there though were you, so how could you know. Maybe it was written with that in mind too...and I mean they were probably under the influence of many substances, but ultimately my dad's experience directly with them, and was it being written about him.
@pieter5237
@pieter5237 3 ай бұрын
@@vickymcdonald3167 but that's exactly what Townshend said. He never mentioned anything about it being written about an ex-military. And the only (known) person which had any influence on this song is Meher Baba, Pete's spiritual leader at the time. Also i've seen far too many fake stories in yt comments under a song from people trying to get attention. So unless Townshend confirms it, i wont belive that. Not saying that your story is definitely fake but there must be some proof outside of your father's story. Roger Daltrey was definitely not taking drugs and drinking big amounts of alcohol so he would remember if they met your dad. (I think he's really a hero. To get back to normal life after losing family must be incredibly tough)

Amazing voice. So many "artists" today feel like they have to do all of the vocal acrobatics and show off their voice. Finally, someone who actually SINGS a song the way it is written and still makes it her own! Absolutely beautiful!

Thats because the people only remember the legends. In every year of music history, there were crap - rly rly bad music. Best excample: The 80s. I am am musician and working with instruments the last 20 years and keep smiling when the people say "oooh i am such an 80s fan, such great music, its amazing" - actual, sure i could name 200 great songs by name everybody knows and thinks its a legendary track. But i could also show u dozens of lists, with an hilarious amount of Vinyl releases who re absolutly crap. And the crap was dominating the 80s. The today known "80s" were born in the 90s by looking back and only naming the "Hits". But these re not rly the feeling u had in the 80s.

It sounds beautiful (though personally I like a tiny bit of sliding on the notes rather than each being perfectly tuned). I miss the middle section though, for me emotionally that's the heart of the song. And if I shiver, please give me a blanket / Keep me warm, let me wear your coat. Missing that, and putting in another verse, was for me the worst crime of the Limp Bizkit version. But to each his / her own :)

Meh, u say that cus shes hot. I thought it lacked emotion. Pete hid his sexuality because he would have been a pariah. I doubt this girl has ever been told "no" in her entire, short, little life. No offense, but pretty people, especially, young, advantaged women, not only have people lining up to open doors for them, they dont even know the doors exist. Not saying its wrong, just that its been empirically proven.

Janet we are 4 years older with you at the start of your life and me at the other end. I have chatted with you before about great performances but this one ... oh my ... this one is the cherry. I will happily die with your version of this song in my mind. Hugs from Canada my special one.

I love how you dont try and hide your accent when you sing. Reminds me of the late great and gone way too soon, Delores ;(

My second favorite cover you have done. I can listen to this over and over, its very touching. You have such a unique voice and style, even though I've heard this song a million times you have brought a tear to my eye. Your music touches the soul and everything feels so real when I hear you sing. Kinda like that one star in a starry night that you look for not because its the brightest but its the one that reminds you that you are looking into the heavens, and every thing is wonderful. You miss it when its gone.. thank God for You Tube. Thank you for being you. Don't ever stop singing.

I usually steer clear of covers of this song(hear me out). My father who was born in the early -50s is a The Who-fan, and I remember the original song fondly. Everyone's heard of the Limp Bizkit-cover, that really put me off as a pre-teen. I haven't owned a TV since 2007, so I wasn't aware you were on X Factor, pieced it together from the comments. Must say, this is why I love KZbin, finding good new(personally to me) artists. Thanks for doing the emotional depth of the song justice, I really enjoy the nuances of your voice from smoky to clear to warm and everything in between. One of the hardest covers for me personally to digest and you presented it in such a way that it wasn't hard at all, thoroughly enjoyable vocal performance. :) Cheers, a new subscriber from Finland!

Such a beautiful, literally perfect, voice. So much passion, raw emotion, grace, elegance...completely unique...they say the eyes are the windows to the soul but what if we cannot see those eyes...in this case, the windows to this singers soul is her voice. It's the sheer brilliance and picture perfect combination of the painfully vulnerable yet defiantly bold and audacious power of such a delicate yet brave young woman.
