Such a lovely personality, Ian. We once had a coffee and chat at the White Horse in Leamington Spa, he does come to you on an equal level, very grounded and respectful. Love how he argues about old mistakes in a self-monologue, you can tell he’s still a designer trough and through - always ideas going through his mind. He was a great boss at Jaguar and an amazing designer for Aston Martin. He will be always up there in the list of best automotive designers whatsoever...

I think he is spot on, the DB9 is a very feminine, gentle design and the perfect antidote to the aggressive design language we see in many modern cars.

In my view the DB9 design has always been flawless, I look at mine more than I drive it.

Nothing mentioned about the V12V as it is absolutely flawless

My 166 has a chrome bit on the side of the front glass too. Goes all the way back to the top of the rear window.

@utubecomment21 There are nuanced differences between the 2004-2018 cars which were designed for different customer groups, not for different aesthetics. They are collectively some of the sexiest cars ever designed, timeless looks which enabled the long production run. Much nicer than the 2018+ styling!

Rename the clip as *Designer critiquing his own build* and tells you how wrong it was

The last 25 years have been a real low point in Aston’s history, IMO. Same design used over and over again DB9 - DB9 Rapide - DB9 with extension Vanquish - DB9 with body kit Vantage - Shrunken DB9 Virage - DB9 with different body kit to Vanquish
