Hey, how long in between applying for housing and being accepted did you have to wait?
@caitlinjanet_3 ай бұрын
I was told I had a staff housing spot when I got my job offer in July, but then didn’t apply till I think late September. If you are on the waitlist, we usually see a big dip in people around Dec-Jan and that’s when a lot of people end up getting a house. Message me on insta if you want me to send some advice for your specific situation.

Heya, I have just been approved for housing for the upcoming season wooooo, but still waiting to find out which one! Do you know what the gym set up is in the blocks by chance, want to get a plan set up before I head over! I am SO excited to get over there a few weeks!

Hey! Congrats on getting housing! I’ve been told there is a gym set up in building 5, but it’s minimal (treadmill and dumbbells). We do have 2 great gyms in town, the Core and Meadow Park Sports Centre. But I probably wouldn’t organise a gym pass till you’ve been here a little. You may find you don’t need gym if you’re riding every day :) let me know if you have any other q’s!

Sorry I should be more clear - if you have a job that allows for riding multiple days! 🙏🏽 which hopefully you do!

Hey girl what insurance did you use and how much excess and cover did you choose? Xx
@caitlinjanet_5 ай бұрын
Hey! I go with Best Quote IEC insurance they’re really good and easy to use. For mine I think I did $200,000 with $0 excess which cost us about $1500 each (this was 2 years ago). If you want to risk it and spend less, do a higher excess but keep the coverage high. Atleast $100,000 in case of a hospital stay, bills can add up very fast! And make sure you get the winter sports coverage, definitely needed! I broke my wrist my first winter and it cost me almost 3K which I got back thankfully.

Really aiming for Brio as it’s most accessible for me. But a bit worried about the waiting list. Is there anyone I can contact to kinda chase it?
@caitlinjanet_5 ай бұрын
Hey! Great Q, I’m actually in the process of finding that out myself for a friend, so once I hear I can pass the message on.
@caitlinjanet_5 ай бұрын
In the mean time, you could try contacting whoever you’ve been emailing for work, or see if you can find a contact for housing, but we usually do everything on Direct Connect now which is a employee service.

thanks for all these videos! wondering if you know if you’re required to open a bank account at a canadian bank/own a canadian credit card or something like that? or can i just use my wise visa travel card (i’m aussie) to pay for rent and stuff like that?
@caitlinjanet_5 ай бұрын
Hey! Great Q, I’m not sure actually, might be worth searching on the IEC Facebook group. I do know a lot of people that use Wise and other options like that, but I still think it’s handy having the Canadian bank account in case for some reason your other card doesn’t work. We are with CIBC and pay $0 fees for the first 2 years. We also have a Credit Card now which is handy because sometimes other cards don’t work for some places (like the usa, or certain restaurants) and for things (hotels sometimes only accept CC, renting cars, big payments like flights when your debit has a limit). Hope that helps!

Hey wondering how likely I would be offered staff accommodation? I’ve accepted a lift ops job for this winter and applied through the working holiday club

Hey! It’s hard to say for sure because I don’t know much about TWHC and whether they can help with housing or not. But definitely they should start to tell you soon I believe! Also usually beds do open up along the season too.

Hello, thanks for such a detailed video. Do managers get a different unit? I am particularly asking for a Assistant Manager and whether they should expect a roommate or not! Thank you!!

Hi, moving to whistler this winter. I was wondering if you can have guests to stay in staff housing ??
@caitlinjanet_4 ай бұрын
I’m not sure what the exact rules are, but I would advise against it only because the units aren’t really big enough to have another person stay, plus you’ll have 3 other roommates living there too. But you can definitely have people over to hang out :)
