Behind the Cup: Guatemala's Coffee Story

Texas A&M AgriLife has a long history with coffee and coffee farmers, and their influence in the industry continues to grow through the Center for Coffee Research and Education. The center focuses on areas of the world where improving coffee production methods and opportunities for farmers translates into improved economic stability.
About 80% of global coffee production comes from smallholder farmers, many of whom cannot support themselves on their coffee production alone. This is largely due to the economic impacts of climate change and coffee leaf rust, and the low prices paid for coffee. The Texas A&M coffee experts are working to solve those production challenges, stregthen the industry and improve your morning cup of coffee.
