Over 140 top 40, top 10 and #1 billboard 100s combined. This man has so many #1 songs over damn near 30 years, he knows not only music, he knows how to make good music, some of the best music. He makes it and has made a lot of it.

This is why I encourage everyone to READ the credits, to watch how things really work in the studio, etc. I’m 34, I was 5 in 1994 reading the credits (reading the best I could btw 😂) and I noticed familiar names as I continued to read, that made me dig into who each person was and thankfully my older cousins heavily into music, so they’d help guide me. This new era needs to really get back into reading more and studying the HISTORY of things because that’s how we’ll continue to move forward the right way.

No, it doesn't explain anything. I've owned a MPC60 II & 3000. It's the Rodger Linn software and the 16 bit converters that gives it its unique characteristics. This is why the MPC'S after those models didn't have Linn's signature and sound. They are Akai's but not a Rodger Linn akai. NOW YOU KNOW

Fuck the scrutiny. Asking if you have any new hits or understanding of new tech is tantamount to asking Michaelangelo what he has done lately. Art is not time limited. You don’t have to make another hit. You’ve got plenty that will outlast your physical body. Those asking will not be in history books. That is all.

You can, in the newer ones. The old ones like MPC 3000 just don't have enough memory. But the capabilities of mixing vocals are so limited, it makes no sense. Usually you would programm the beat in a very raw edit, export all tracks to audio formats, import them to a computer, lay the vocals over it and put everything in the right mix.

Attention: it ain't the equipment it's what's in you. You can only make what you feel and what you can hear. You can have the greatest MPC ever made, but you don't how to make music, and understand sound, sonics, and frequency, it means nothing, nothing, nothing JD been doing this for like 30 years, and he is a hall of fame songwriter, one of prolific producers of the last quarter of century. So kids, pro-tools, logic, new generation MPCs won't help you if it ain't in your soul. Use your ears, and study the greats.💯
