My all time favorite album. Seriously Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Michelle, In My Life are just amazing by themselves but to have them on one album is incredible.

When I bought the mono version of the album I was blown away. Its like listening to a whole new album, with the rhythm section locked in as it should be. The mix and the overall sound of the mono is fantastic.

I dragged out my copy of the album yesterday. I hadn't previously played it as it was given to me a couple of years ago, just before moving house. I finally unpacked all of my LPs this last week and noticed that the copy I was given, as opposed to the copy in the old blue box set, was mono. I gave it a spin and it does sound MUCH better. I'm not a 100% fan of the whole album but I am of the sound of it.

Initially we already have some misinformation. The Beatles did not go into this recording with "more time" as the narrator suggests. On the contrary, having been given absolutely no time for preparation, they were cast into the studio after several years of nonstop touring, movie making, and record making, and told they had two months to record a new record. This all came coincidentally just as they had exhausted their cache of early originals and the many covers worked out in Hamburg and the early Cavern Club days. The band had been wrung ragged for several years and were exhausted. This is when any other band in history would and should have either put out a flop, or at least an average ho hum offering, which makes Rubber Soul an even more impressive collection. A masterpiece if you ask me, and easily my favourite album by the Lads.

Essentially for myself, I digested the whole Beatles discography (other thsn *Let It Be)* when I was seven and Apple Records redistributed their whole catalog on compact disc. Inside of a year, I heard both editions of *Rubber Soul,* the original Capitol Records format from 1965 and the EMI format that was distributed on CD. (I can recall also listening to *Help!* and wondering what "I've Just Seen A Face" was doing there.) It took me a short extension of time to learn all the different levels of history that *Rubber Soul* represented for the Beatles and their evolution as musicians. I would not have considered likening it to *Revolver,* an album I considered vastly different, so it was really interesting when The Beatles Anthology came out in 1995 to hear George )Harrison) thinking those two records were like Volume 1 and Volume 2 in his mind.

Perhaps the craziest jump in songwriting maturity in the shortest amount of time, if you consider Help! had come out only a few months before these recordings, and a few months later they would record Tomorrow Never Knows.

excellent work! interesting that on Think For Yourself, paul also recorded a "normal" non-fuzz bass line on the opposite side of the mix, perhaps realizing the fuzz bass line wasn't enough to carry the bottom, which was crucial in those days of mediocre, mostly mid-fidelity audio systems. chris squire of yes, who had an notoriously punchy, middish sound, used the Rickenbacker effectively, with and without fuzz. but i think paul preferred the more bottomy hofner for bass, which had punch and boom.

7:49 Cue the big arguing between the accidental and (frankly superior) of the American version of Rubber Soul resulting in that Folk-Rock mania vs Beatle's vision which included the horrible What Goes On. (I've NEVER heard anyone who had a kind word for that song!) BUT: They weren't "angling to push for a folk rock sound"

I prefer the capitol version of Rubber Soul in Mono. I find that it's much more cohesive. I've Just Seen A Face makes for a great and upbeat opening track. That flows into Norwegian Wood, setting the mood nicely. Not to mention, I think Michelle, It's Only Love followed by Girl is the best sequencing of songs on any Beatles album.
@scottandrewbrass1931Ай бұрын
No. Those tracks belong where they were intended. On Help.
@overjoyousАй бұрын
@scottandrewbrass1931 Well, that's your opinion. I personally think the US version is far superior. Hell, the US Rubber soul is the album that inspired Brian Wilson to write and record Pet Sounds. Capitols' version is a much more cohesive listen. To me anyway. I don't care what anyone else thinks. It's not their opinion.

The Beatles recorded this album and no else period. I’m so tired of the BS conspiracies of the Beatles. No proof or real evidence. And no one ever has come forward with valid proof. The Beatles were the hardest working musicians of that part of the 60s. People just making money on bogus claims. A great progression in their songwriting Paul loved being in the studio all the time and he pushed the boys to write and record constantly!😃
@scottandrewbrass1931Ай бұрын
Yes it's rather draining isn't it? Despite countless outtakes of them in the Abbey Road vaults working on the songs they still prattle on about session musicians and other people writing their songs for them. I think by now they would have come forward if that was true. Another thing they can't grasp is the thirty days it took to make the album.

How were songs like Michelle done in one take?
@scottandrewbrass1931Ай бұрын
The Beatles had many hours in the studio by this point. Some sessions would start at 2pm and finish by 12 or half 12. They obviously rehearsed the song and then added many overdubs. So it wasn't a true 1 take performance. Rather like Yesterday's 2 takes or Good Day Sunshines one take.

Sage of Quay/ Mike Williams has performed an extensive analysis about teh making of Rubber Souls jumping at the conclusion that the official narrative put forward an impossible and fake story. Simply put there was not enough time starting in October 1965 in order to write, arrange, reharse, record 16 new songs followed by the additional time required for the industrial processing (vinil pressing, sleeve and label printing etc.) in order to ensure that the album was out right before Christmas. Mike Williams believes this is a smoking gun indicating that the Beatles did not write all their music and a powerful organization was behind them
@scottandrewbrass1931Ай бұрын
Mike Williams is an utter cockwomble though and should be laughed off the internet .Along with any one who believes any of the dribble he spouts.😂😂 Ps. The Beatles had more than half of the songs for Rubber Soul written by the time they got into the studio. They NEVER went to work unprepared in those days.Two were based on very old songs. And at least one was already recorded. With George's two tracks Lennon and McCartney they only had to write about four new songs. For two highly talented songwriters with three years of recording experience who were always writing songs this was not impossible . They literally only had to come up with four or five new songs. Two for the single.
@scottandrewbrass1931Ай бұрын
You mean Mike Williams has made up a load of twaddle on his site for guilable people to swallow where everything he spouts can be disproven with actual fact.

If for example by symbolism not exactly he was that, if Skywalker was Samboy Lim of the East was he Alexander, the Darth Vader of the West because he was a tall, longer haired Caucasian master General Warrior Conqueror. Darth Vader in his prime was a fighter prime soldier of ModernTechnology of Advanced Civilization and he was tall, with longer hair and handsome like Alexander. What if time really was scaled back and because Dark Energy is Eternal Dark what if the Space Imperial head Palpatine was having an eye on the soldier career of young Darth Vader until he was burned in lava. As he Palpatine the Dark Lord had saved his being from destruction he intentionally recruited him and transformed him into Darth Vader half human half machine right hand commander of Space Imperial head Palpatine. ? Theres another movie Skywalker this time not the cager Lim, a young person trained by Tibetian Monks to be the Airbender in Airbender movie. The Airbender Aang, a young Shaolin boy who mastered the 4 Elements powers of Avatar, why he looks like Santino ?
