would you like to be a world cup mechanic? If so which racer would you like to spanner for?

Probably Steve Peat c. 1994 cos then there'd be nothing more challenging than V-brakes to fettle before we went out partying 🙌🏻😅

Minnarr will always be the GOAT. Imagine still being in the mix as a possible winner against people 20 years younger! So smooth on a bike and incredibly professional. Loved the little tweaks needed to make the bike just right for him, this vid along with Bernard Kerrs latest really shows the intensity of World Cup DH a racing.

Back in 2018 at worlds in Lenzerheide, i chatted with Greg for like half an hour about the season etc. He's a great guy! Never had the chance to chat with Lyle, but he seems to be a great guy aswell from all the videos from Syndicate etc. Regarding tire inserts that many mention: inserts also have their weight and change how a tire deforms in a turn or in offcamber sections. I am 100% sure that Greg has tried inserts before and probably didn't like the feel of the bike with them. A big part of being fast on a bike is liking how it feels and being confident in the setup you have. So i am certain that it was a concious decision against inserts. Also, i had made everything i could to prevent punctures from happing while riding in Lenzerheide for a day. Ended up having two punctures (one wheel each) within the two first runs of the day. Lenzerheide sometimes can be a b*iiiip when it comes to punctures.

Really felt for Lyle, all he can do is what he does, before its then all left out on the track with Greg. Tracks are harsh, sometimes things don't go your way. For sure he is one of the best at what he does in the pit.

Minnaar is such a class act (during the interview post interview)!......How he handled such an exasperating situation is incredible. That's why he is the GOAT!!👑 Seems Greg had some heavily (valid?) nagging concerns regarding suspension settings. Man, Lyle in a tough arrangement, even with the common understanding some of this stuff is simply out of his control, once the rider drops in.......

Incredible to see the lengths gone to just for brake feel, I’m no mechanic but this got me thinking, could he use a feeler gauge to slide up between the disc & pad. Find the right size then it would be consistent every time?

Tidy that. Really interesting to see some of the behind the scenes workings. It must be quite something for a rider of Minaar's vintage to compare how things are now to how they were when he began. No smartphone footage of runs to analyse back then! Just a shame punctures have remained a constant throughout!

This track was hard on tires lot's of flats and crashes, remember an interview with Greg saying he uses the minimum sealant and no cush core to save weight, maybe is time for a more heavier back wheel. 🤙🏻🤟🏻✌🏻

Do you have, or would you be able to do a build it type challenge where you buy a cheap new bike, a la Canyon Grand Canyon, and upgrade it, or buy a cheap used bike and upgrade it, or just by a better new bike, with a max budget of £2000?

Unfortunately, punctures can happen! Racers run very low pressures to gain as much grip as possible, however, this comes at the price of durability.
