Looking for skilled workers? Inmates at the Anamosa State Penitentiary are getting upskilled in various industries as we speak.
They recently had a chance to share their skills with employers at the Anamosa Employer and Reentry Roundtable event.
Here is a glimpse behind the scenes as they train to return to the workforce.

I hope Bradley gets out. Being 17, just a child. He deserves a 2nd chance ❤

I remember his case being in the news back in the early 90s. Him and his brother. His brother got life and Bradley didn't. He has served the majority of his sentence by now.

No one ever truly masters welding. You can keep getting better and better, but there will forever be room for improvement

Employment is important part of reintegration into society but the main reason why they have these jobs in prison is to make them money through cheap labor so let's be honest about it.. they pay you a dollar an hour if that for these so-called jobs in prison. On top of that they get $30,000 of federal money per inmate every year on top of the millions they make each year off of prison labor

Every inmate at the Anamosa State Penitentiary is a victim.

@John Smith He's probably talking about how massive amounts of money gets made off these prisoners. That happens both ways to the taxpayers. See when someone goes to jail, the taxpayers pay for their food & stay.

@John Smith Oh....where I was going here with this was the corporate fat cats come in and indirectly force the prisoners to do stuff for them like make shoes for Michael Jordan and all that. The two guys who got dropped by the inmates were working there for more than 14 years. Nobody wants to work at the slammer nowadays because its filled with peacefully-challenged folk and the job is underpaid. Fukk that.
