Yea editing is no joke, if anyone is familiar with "mikeburnfire" I seen his break down of his editing process. The text that follows them around is actually a frame by frame edit. I've absolutely loved watching your guys' content for years, and it's just really cool seeing behind the scenes footage, and just knowing how much of the conversation is pure improv, and how much editing and detail you put into these projects. I love hearing you all just cracking jokes with each other across all kinds of media from the Ask the Sonic Heroes series, the Among Us on the Ark series, SPU, The plush story series and cooking recipes, Cupid Cream, and the Minecraft series. It sounds like you're all having so much fun on SonicSong182. I love just seeing how much the production quality has grown and I look forward to seeing where you all go from here. Thank you very much for sharing a slice with us of your creative process! ^^

Thank you VandiMares! :D Even though it's more "interesting" than "exciting" to watch, I think it's fun to share some of the behind the scene stuff sometimes. I wish I had more of the raw footage still from when Nate (Sonic's actor) and I recorded the SCP: Containment Breach series. We got together for like 4 hours every Tuesday for MONTHS to get all that footage, and mostly because you couldn't actually save progress in the game. Every time we played, we had to start from the beginning and get past all the challenges we'd finally learned to beat in previous sessions. xD And all of that of course was us screaming and running around and improvising a little storyline in the game. The only time there was a semi-script to go off of was when we invited our friend James to play The Dream Man SCP, because that episode had a little plot/backstory that I added into the show that I wanted to make sure got in there. Same episode, when Tails was in The Old Man/Larry's domain, that was a whole solo session I did by myself in the game trying to explore every room in that area, it took a while to actually figure out how to BEAT each section so I could show off the whole area down there xD ANYWAY that's one that I don't have much behind the scenes clips or anything to share, but I thought it was really interesting lol. I don't know where the raw footage went

Some people don't know _how much_ editing can affect a video. There's a reason it is it's own profession, and why it pays so much
@SonicSong1826 ай бұрын
Being a professional editor on project with an actual budget probably pays pretty well, I wish I made that kind of money, but I'm just a KZbinr xD The editing totally changes the vibe and speed of a video though -- just editing out pauses and hesitations between sentences can make it sound like the voice acting team always knows exactly what to say, but in reality it's just that the editing only left all the best stuff. Which is a lot of it, honestly, the team is so much fun to listen to just chat with each other haha

Thank you xD Actually the only reason we need an "intro script" at all for Ask the Sonic Heroes is so the hosts can remember which important points to say before we start the episode -- episode number, how to ask questions on the show, introduce hosts, introduce guests, and a reminder about the order they're supposed to ask questions in and how many lol. When I'm hosting the episode myself as one of my characters (Rouge, Blaze, Maria, etc), I don't need the script at all because I have all those key points memorized xD Everything else in the show is improvised, we just edit/cut/trim for timing and pacing! :) ...And for staying on topic, sometimes we go off on a tangent and talk for like 5 whole minutes about something that doesn't end up in the episode even though the whole convo was in character xD

Honestly, I would watch a whole video of just the live raw recordings. Like if you were to make a podcast out of them, I'd find it kind of cool. Though I understand if that's not something you'd want to do.
@SonicSong1826 ай бұрын
I've thought for years about putting the raw/full recordings of Ask the Sonic Heroes episodes up podcast style. I would have to find the old files again (if they have survived), and then also listen to each of them and make sure to cut SOME things out xD Occasionally when breaking character or pausing for someone to take a phone call or something, we do just sit there and chit chat about real life stuff and use our actual names and things, so probably a TOTALLY unedited recording would not work out. xD And indeed, everyone once in a while, someone cracks and joke and immediately goes "PLEASE DO NOT PUT THAT IN THE EPISODE, LEMME TRY AGAIN" and I of course would not put it into the "director's cut" lol. I think one of the most unhinged recording sessions was "A Very Villainous Christmas" with Sonic, Shadow, and Silver hosting for Eggman, Infinite, and Metal Sonic. I did not actually play any characters myself in that episode, but of course I was there in the voice call directing, but those dorks were totally chaotic without me having Rouge, Blaze, or Maria to sort of pull them back and refocus them in character xD I had to help them get back on topic sometimes, they were very silly lol In another episode entirely, Shadow said something WAY too violent in response to Tails being sassy and it was hilarious, BUT, no way could I let him actually say that in the official show, so that sort of joke I'd have to edit out of a director's cut too lol. Even though it was super funny, sometimes things should not see the light of day xD
@33pandagamer6 ай бұрын
@@SonicSong182 , Yeah I understand. Editing is required to make the recordings safe for use on KZbin, plus you'd probably have to get permission from the VAs that were involved in each of the episodes. So I get if this is something that's just not feasible. Thank you for giving me this bit of information on some of your old raw/full recordings. I found it very interesting and entertaining. You are seriously the coolest KZbinr, thank you so much for making high-quality content and engaging with fans like myself. I really appreciate all that you do,

Heya Zero! :D I do 99% of the editing for everything myself on this channel, but sometimes for emergencies (holiday deadline crunch...), my friend Jazzy/YoJazzHey comes in and helps rescue me xD He helps edit some of the Ask the Sonic Heroes scenes on an emergency basis, and a few years ago for editing practice he used to make "Funny Moments" videos on the channel too. :) Everything else editing-wise, it's just me nearly all of the time! My friends MusicalSushi (shading/highlighting), PCShnun (colors), and Tobytots (sketches for pose ideas) all helped me with the character artwork. I did the actual drawings, but they were my team for getting the updated artwork made/colored/completed more quickly, And my friend Jen makes some "meme images" for Ask the Sonic Heroes sometimes, or joke images, like that gossip magazine article about Shadow and Megan Fox that came up in one episode lol And then of course, I've got a big group of friends making up the voice acting team!

With my projects, I have to do a lot of audio editing. Because I have to chop up every line of dialogue for my mod, it takes hours to get through. When you say at 4:43 about editing feeling slow, boy it really is. 5:45 This looks so fun and chill. When I record lines for my projects, I'm usually by myself. So, the intro is said to be semi-scripted, but I'm wondering about if anything else is scripted. I'm guessing based on Silver's actor (Sykorax I think?) breaking character, I'm guessing it's mostly improv? Considering you live stream Among Us while acting as the characters, I'm guessing yes. And that's super impressive being able to improvise so much and for so long without breaking character.
@SonicSong1826 ай бұрын
Heya Ryuka! :) The intro for Ask the Sonic Heroes episodes have little scripts the actors can either read directly, or ad-lib/improvise off of, so they remember to say the important "intro stuff" like which episode it is, and how to ask questions for the show, and to remind them to introduce themselves as the hosts and then the guests -- but we don't need any script for that at all when it's me doing the hosting as Rouge, Maria, Blaze, etc. because I have all that information memorized. xD Everything else is improvised based on what questions we get, and whatever our natural reactions/interactions with each other are. If we forget something or need help with an answer, we might break character for a moment to ask each other for help like what Silver's actor did here when remembering Infinite's name lol. The final show makes it sound like we always know exactly what we're saying, because I edit out the pauses where someone is silently thinking, or hesitating, or breaking character to ask the group an out-of-character question. xD When we're doing liveshows like the Among Us streams, we of course just gotta roll with whatever happens like we're doing live theater improv, since we CAN'T break character and edit it out in that case, but it's a little easier in something like Among Us or playing a video game because we're not trying to answer questions -- instead, we're improvising on "what would my character do in this situation" and reacting to what's happening to us in the game. It's a lot of fun, I hope you can tell from these clips how silly we are about it haha
