We were allowed to look behind the scenes of Karlsruhe Zoo with Zoo Director Dr Matthias Reinschmidt! Besides chimpanzee Benny, we get an exclusive insight into the new African savannah that the local council had approved. The project is completed this week. The zebras 🦓 and giraffes 🦒 can rejoice. We also learn that there are more than 90 breeding programmes for endangered species at the zoo. You can find out more about species protection at the City of Karlsruhe here and in the next episode. On the Africa Savannah:
- By the way, the Africa Savannah opened on 28 July 2023.
- In the next episode, Dr Reinschmidt tells us, among other things, that the animals will be integrated bit by bit: In the beginning there will be zebras and giraffes, then antelopes, gazelles and finally ostriches... each in the time it takes the animals to get used to each other.
