Several things. BIG FAN!!!! Love what you have done! On the driveway is there a way of mitigating someone pulling in your driveway and destroying the matrix? (like reflectors at the street sire) OR is the matrix always on at night? On the house itself, all of your props, nets, cords, wreaths, etc are all black. Wouldn't white have been a better choice for daytime? OR....would that have adverse reactions at night. Again, love the amount of work and detail you have put in. Thank you for sharing!
@AVeryMerryMeridian2 жыл бұрын
Good conversation there Daniel...thanks for the compliment first and foremost. So we do block the driveway off with cones for visibility, and during the day we put one of our cars parallel to the sidewalk to prevent anyone from accidentally driving into it. You bring up a good point about the black props on the white house....however I have yet to find GOOD matrix mesh that is clear or white that holds up in the sun's UV rays. Most of the clear mesh lasts one season and yeah Im not rebuilding those bad boys time and time again. The big wreaths in the middle of the windows are black by design (could have went white) but figured with the "black space" in the middle of the window at night black might blend in more so went with that. No wrong answer there, just personal preference I guess with white or black. Our singing faces are white and the lights do "glow" a little more off that prop then the black MOAW's (mother of all wreaths) in our windows. Hope that info help! :)

The info you provided on the deterioration of clear mesh is good; i was thinking of buying that for 2023’s show, but will do some more research regarding longevity, since as you said, don’t want to rebuild that every year. Thanks!

First I love the music. It goes great with all your different sequences. Great engineering on the driveway matrix by the way. How do you plan on storing that thing? Not too sure about the winch idea. You may want to rethink how that section will fold. In your next video, maybe you can showcase how the driveway matrix was programmed and integrated into the rest of your show. Someday I expect to see lasers and/or flame throwers integrated into your shows. Keep up the good work. See you next Christmas.

For storage I will just unfold it at the 3 10-foot section marks..so will have a bundle of 3 PVC for each row fold up pretty easily...and will just have 30 of those. I installed 2 more garage ceiling racks last weekend in preparation for it though!
@AVeryMerryMeridian3 жыл бұрын
As far as next year I’ve always wanted moving heads on top of the house but they are $$$….maybe I can sell a kidney or something lol
@gorak90003 жыл бұрын
Why did you make the foldable section all one piece? If every 3 rows are independent pixel string wise, why not just have them fold up separately? Then you wouldn't need 2 people to do the whole thing at once, you could just fold each section up one at a time. Also, you'd need a double joint on one side so it could fold right over and sit on top of the left side of the matrix - just extend that pivot point on the right side of that joint with a piece of steel with 2 holes drilled in it. When it's folded, the steel strip points up, and the second pivot point allows the actual matrix structure to fold over on top of the left side, rather than getting stuck just past 90 degrees the way it is now.

Christmas Lights at Station Drive had a driveway matrix in their video from 6 years ago, it is such an amazing look I'm amazed that it took so long for someone else to do it as well. I love the way you made the effects look more 3D bouncing between the garage door and the driveway. Just a thought with the hindged section, and since you are looking at using a winch anyway probably wont make any difference but would it make sense to have different sections that can be lifted individually rathar being the full length? I am also surpised at how big the spacing is on the matrix as well, I am definetly going to have to re-think how many pixels I want to put into my props. Thanks for the behind the scenes I enjoy them almost as much as the shows :D
@AVeryMerryMeridian3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that Station Drive video was my inspiration for sure! It looked so good and wanted to bring pixels and xLights to elevate it even more and still make the garage accessible! As far as cutting it down to smaller sections I 100% agree with you as if it was 2 or 3 smaller sections and I had like another pin or "leg" of PVC I could even have it hold it place in the up position so I would not even have to hold it. Definitely crossed my mind but with using the winch next year I did not want to cut it down prematurely just in case. Good to know if I had to I could figure something out manually next year if it comes to that
