Behind The Scenes Of OBLIVION Operations - Alton Towers

- Take a behind the scenes look at one of Alton Towers Resort most iconic rides - Oblivion! I explore the operators cabin including pressing announcements, play around with the dispatch buttons AND climb to the very top of the lift hill, 180ft high! Not only is it that tallest ride in the resort but also the fastest topping Rita by 6.9mph! This VIP event lasted around 2 hours and couldn't have been better! The climb provided spectacular views across the resort including The Smiler, X-Sector, The Towers and the flag tower! The operator's cabin includes an old old old version of Windows, alongside wind monitors, CCTV Of the ride amongst more! The Staff couldn't have been better and a huge shout out to Nathan who really made the event!
After the experiance the park sends over Photos from their own Go Pro along with a virtual certificate, although you can just take your own photos on your own phone proovided it fits in the pouch provided on the Oblivion harness! Oblivion sits opposite the Smiler infront of Rita and Thirteen. Built in 1998 as B&M's first ever "vertical" dive roller coaster. This model would become extremely popular, and one of B&M's best selling model. The relationship between B&M and Alton Towers Resort would continue with Galactica and Nemesis Reborn in 2024!

You probably got told, but the dispatch buttons are on the side to stop you being able to press both dispatch buttons using one hand. Therefore you have to use both hands to dispatch and in theory, that means you have given the ride your full attention and are not doing anything else.

once i went on oblivion whilst it was hailing and also thrashing rain 😂 me and my mate thought we would get a free fast pass because it shut but we got on it anyway (most painful ride ever😅)

Great video! I’d be pressing all the announcement buttons as I love audio equipment. Do they have an Audio Rack in the op cabin or is it all controlled from elsewhere? (Amps for speakers etc)
