I feel like karl lagerfeld doesn't do much. He's more of a mascot that Chanel protects and gives credit too.

He was the designer of the clothes (haute-couture and pret-a-porter) and accesories, also he was the deisgners of the campaign and shows, etc. And not just in Chanel, also in Fendi. Just see how is now Chanel with other designer and other creative director, Virginie Viard, and you can see the HUGE difference, now Chanel looks like Zara. And that the seamstresses are supposed to be the same as before. The ideas and direction of the designer is what makes the difference.
